Department Overview
Corporate Finance at ING is a core part of Capital Markets and Advisory and plays a central role in ING’s ambition to deliver advice in the boardroom. The team provides independent, senior‑level advice to corporate and financial institution clients on their most critical strategic decisions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestments, capital structuring and equity capital markets. By combining deep sector knowledge with ING’s financing, risk and balance‑sheet capabilities, Corporate Finance supports clients at board, shareholder and sponsor level across EMEA, the Americas and Asia.
Job Specification
The Business Manager (“BM”) provides operational support to the Global head of Corporate Finance, as well as working closely with the other members of the CF Management Team in the discharge of their responsibilities. In this role you will report directly to the Global head of Corporate Finance. The role has a core focus on leading the governance, controls, business planning and performance aspects of the CF business, specifically:
Governance
- Provide appropriate structure for the oversight of key commercial and operational activities
- Ongoing development of the business / procedure manual
- Running agenda and minutes and ensure MT ownership and delivery of agreed actions
Risk / Control / Conduct / Regulatory
- Oversee the governance process for operational risks and controls within CF, providing guidance and support to the local teams to ensure that they have effective management of their risk and control environment
- Work with key internal partners on the interpretation and implementation of all regulatory changes impacting the business
- Act as a constructive interface with all key Risk partners and ensuring that Risk & Control Self Assessments (“R&CSA”) have appropriate input, assessment, and follow-up actions insofar as they relate to the business.
- Work closely with internal and external audit teams, ensuring that information is delivered to them in a timely manner and that any open Audit points are remediated within agreed timescales
- Foster a culture of transparency on lessons learned (event / incident management; CAS / Compliance monitoring issues) to further strengthen risk and control awareness within CF
Business Performance, Financial Planning & Control
- Work in tandem with WB Finance to develop the dynamic plan and rolling forecasts
- Maintain and update the booking model, as required
- Develop, deliver, and improve business performance management metrics
People
- Together with the (Global) HRBP support the Global head of CF on key topics such as talent identification & management, learning & development and develop target action plans on OHI outcomes
- Help to shape the annual KPI framework for the business, ensuring alignment with the overall WB strategic agenda
- Facilitating the mid-year and year end performance review calibration sessions
- Support the Global head of CF with the management of the annual compensation process for the business
- Maintain CF organisational structure and charts, database of FTEs, etc.
Communication
- Work with global CMA Business Management team to ensure that the internal CF ‘story’ is always presented internally in a consistent manner
- Prepare messages from the Global head of CF and CF MT and work with the WB Comms department on local media and external stakeholder links
- Prepare internal presentations and briefings and conduct ad hoc analysis on a diverse range of topics where required

Requirements
- At least a Bachelor level of education, preferred in business administration, finance or relevant field
- At least five years of professional experience
- Strong skills with PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and other dashboards/tooling (e.g. PowerBI)
- Strong interpersonal skills and organisational sensitivity
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Strong analytical and structured problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Experience in interpreting and implementing policies, control standards procedures, and controls
- Excellent communication skills (English – verbal & written)
- Proven knowledge of Wholesale Banking is a plus
