Your work environment
As an Associate at Structured Acquisition Finance Portfolio Management (SAF PM), you will use your analytical and commercial skills to support the in-life management of ING’s acquisition finance portfolio. You will be involved in a broad range of transactions, ranging from monitoring and covenant reviews to amendments, waivers, refinancings and add-on financings. Working with like-minded ambitious colleagues you will grow your understanding of debt structuring and of companies active in a broad range of sectors. As a member of the deal team, you will ensure the best possible credit structure for our clients, in which you have a connecting role, within ING with credit risk and other financing departments, and externally with Private Equity funds, management teams, entrepreneurs and other banks. Role and responsibility
As an Associate at SAF PM, you work in a self-managing team of specialists based at ING’s head office in Amsterdam.
You play an active role in the portfolio management of acquisition finance transactions after closing and contribute to the monitoring and in-life management of the SAF portfolio. You are involved in portfolio transactions, financial monitoring activities (both on individual files and overall portfolio) and stakeholder management, while working closely together with clients, Private Equity investors and internal stakeholders.
Your role will involve:
- Analysing business models, sector trends and financial performance to assess risks and opportunities;
- Monitoring covenant compliance and financial developments within the portfolio;
- Preparing financial analyses, forecasts and scenario assessments. Drafting credit proposals, waiver requests, amendment proposals and lending documentation;
- Acting as deal captain for a part of the SAF SME portfolio transactions and participating in dealteam in more complex SAF SME and SAF MC portfolio transactions;
- Contributing to portfolio reporting, portfolio monitoring and process and data-quality improvement initiatives;
- Monitoring compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies and promoting awareness of risk management.

You have an analytical mind and an eye for detail. You enjoy understanding businesses, evaluating financial performance and working on complex financing structures.
You can balance commercial opportunities with sound risk management and have the communication skills to interact confidently with clients and stakeholders at different levels. You are a team player, take ownership of your work and are motivated to continuously develop yourself.
Your background:
- 2-4 years’ experience, preferable with some experience in financial services, analyzing business models and financial products;
- Experience analyzing financial statements, business models and financing structures;
- Knowledge of lending products and credit processes;
- Embrace AI-tools;
- Experience drafting credit applications and working with financing documentation;
- Strong analytical and Excel skills;
- Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken);
- A completed HBO or university degree.
