Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a non-tenure track Adjunct Instructor. This position is available in the Department of Mathematics in the Brailsford College of Arts & Sciences. The successful applicant will be primarily engaged in teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics and statistics for both majors and non-majors, as assigned. The teaching load is up to 6 credit hours per semester, based on availability; however, duties may also include administration and/or service.
This position is available on for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester and may continue on an as-needed basis.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching mathematics and statistics courses (in-class, hybrid and/or Internet (synchronous and asynchronous) as assigned.
- Tutoring, grading, keeps records, posts grades (mid-term and final), submits attendance reporting, keeping office hours, submitting departmental end of semester clearance items, as required, and compliance with rules and policies of the department, College, University and the Texas A&M University System.
- Performs services to the department, college, university, and the profession.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours (SCH) of Mathematics or Statistics.
- No prior teaching experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Planning and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Statistics or Mathematics with graduate courses in statistics.
- To teach online, a candidate must be certified. The University does recognize Quality Matters certifications achieved at other institutions.
- Equivalent of three years full-time teaching experience in university-level courses in mathematics and/or statistics.
- Evidence of successful and effective teaching at the undergraduate level.
