Position Summary

The Associate Director is responsible for a wide range of accounting, finance and administrative services at a Community College. These services include several functional areas as assigned: General accounting management; Capital planning; Grant accounting; Travel and Professional Development; Accounts Receivable and Billing; Procurement and Accounts Payable; Fixed Assets management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Campus Operations or other Administrator, the Associate Director of Finance and Administrative Services is accountable for the management of the College’s financial and physical resources through effective performance in these essential functional areas

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Management of financial resources
  • Management of physical resources
  • Management of administrative services

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related area and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Fiscal or Business Office and up to two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Banner financial accounting system
  • Fixed asset management
  • Business Office operation including procurement and Accounts Payable
  • Grant accounting
  • Cashier’s/Bursar’s Office and accounts receivable functions
  • State travel and professional development guidelines
  • Supervision of human resources
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with state agencies and other external organizations in contract and grant compliance
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range; $76,469-$81,599 approximate annual
  • Salary is based on qualifications, education, job-related experience, and internal equity

Selection Process

After the closing date, applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Candidates selected for further consideration will be those who best meet the minimum and preferred qualifications and who submitted all required materials by the deadline.

The selection process may include interviews and practical exercises (e.g., written, technical, or simulation exercises). Finalists will be recommended to the Hiring Manager for final selection.
