Overview
As a Prototype Wireperson, you'll produce wiring looms/cable assemblies and test equipment items to required build standards and agreed timeframes. Main tasks include crimping, soldering, lacing, and splicing to aerospace standards, as well as wiring cabinets and fixtures. You'll work with in-house engineers to solve technical queries and build solutions for prototype assemblies. The role requires IPC 620 certification, understanding of engineering drawings, and the ability to work to deadlines. You must possess a full driving license and meet Security Check (SC) criteria.

Job Description Prototype Wire Person
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Responsible for:
Producing looms/cable assemblies & test equipment items to the required build standards and agreed timeframes from minimum information & by liaising with in-house engineers.
Main Tasks (Prototype and Production):
• Production of wiring looms/cable assemblies: comfortable with crimping, soldering, lacing & splicing to aerospace
standards
• Wiring of cabinets and fixtures
Other Tasks:
• Assembly of PCBs (desirable but not essential)
Attributes:
• Extensive knowledge of cable types, connectors, cable assembly techniques and applications
• Able to liaise with in-house engineers with technical queries and provide build solutions for prototype assemblies
• Understanding of engineering drawings, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams
• Able to solder to a consistently high standard
• Familiar with a variety of mil spec connectors, cable production techniques
• Able to work to IPC 620 Class 3
• Able to work to deadlines
• Tidy, methodical and accurate
• Own standard wiring tools (specialized tools will be supplied)
• Able to work independently
• Good team player
• Willing to provide on-site support at customer premises when required
• ESD awareness
Qualifications and Experience:
• Prototype assembly experience in similar work essential (ideally within the Defense / Aerospace sector)
• IPC 620 certified
• Demonstrated capability by skills test
• Full driving license
• Possess all requirements for successfully meeting formal Security Check (SC) criteria
