This is a wonderful opportunity for a high school student (16 years of age or older), someone exploring a future in veterinary medicine, or anyone who simply enjoys working with animals in a fast-paced, family-oriented environment.
For more than 60 years, Eau Claire Animal Hospital has proudly cared for pets and their families throughout the Chippewa Valley. We believe every pet deserves compassionate care, and every team member plays an important role in creating a positive experience for both our patients and their owners.
As a Kennel Attendant, you'll help ensure our boarding guests and hospital patients are comfortable, safe, clean, and well cared for while supporting our veterinary team.
What You'll Do
Our kennel attendants are an essential part of our hospital. Daily responsibilities include:
- Providing exceptional care to the pets in our facility
- Feeding pets according to their individual care instructions and ensuring fresh water is always available
- Walking dogs in our fenced in yard and providing supervised exercise, playtime, cuddle time, and enrichment activities
- Monitoring each pet's appetite, water intake, elimination, and overall well-being, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team
- Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, runs, boarding areas, and play yards
- Washing bedding, towels, dishes, and toys to maintain a clean, healthy environment
- Preparing clean bedding and comfortable accommodations for every boarding guest
- Keeping track of each pet's belongings and ensuring they are returned home safely
- Assisting with cleaning throughout the hospital to maintain our high standards of care
- Monitoring supplies and notifying management when inventory is running low
- Assisting the veterinary team with basic animal care duties as needed
- Following all hospital safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and standards of patient care
- Working together as a team to provide compassionate, efficient, and exceptional service

- Is dependable, responsible, and eager to learn
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with others
- Communicates professionally and kindly with both clients and coworkers
- Is organized and pays attention to detail
- Can think independently while also working well as part of a team
- Is comfortable performing physical work and staying active throughout the day
- Can maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience working with animals is a plus, but not required—we're happy to train the right person!
Physical Requirements
This is an active position that requires:
