Job Description:

This is a Castrol requisition and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence ahead of the Castrol divestment later in 2026. From the point of the divestment, you will be employed fully by Castrol and no longer be a bp employee

The Plant Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently supporting blending, filling, warehouse, and material handling operations while ensuring compliance with company policies, health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role plays a critical part in delivering operational excellence, maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting customer requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Distribution Operations

  • Safely load, unload, store, and transport packaged and bulk products.

  • Pick, check, and prepare customer orders accurately.

  • Conduct stock replenishment and inventory management activities.

  • Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Support stock control, storage, and dispatch processes.

Production & Filling Operations

  • Operate filling equipment and packaging machinery in accordance with work instructions.

  • Perform machine setup, product changeovers, and quality inspections.

  • Conduct product sampling and ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Complete production records accurately and maintain productivity targets.

  • Safely palletize and prepare finished products for distribution.

Blending Operations

  • Interpret blending instructions and production schedules.

  • Measure, record, and transfer raw materials into blending systems.

  • Conduct sampling activities and support laboratory release processes.

  • Transfer finished products to storage tanks, packaging lines, or transport vehicles.

  • Ensure blending activities are completed in line with safety and quality requirements.

Safety, Quality & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote and support incident-free operations.

  • Maintain housekeeping standards and a proactive spill-prevention approach.

  • Handle dangerous goods and hazardous materials safely.

  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and quality concerns promptly.

  • Follow environmental procedures to minimize waste and environmental impact.

  • Participate in risk assessments and emergency response activities.

Operational Support

  • Conduct stock takes and inventory reconciliations.

  • Use operational systems, computers, and digital tools to perform daily responsibilities.

  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support team members and contribute to operational excellence across the site.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Valid LF Forklift Licence.

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or production environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

  • Sound technical aptitude and computer literacy.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and operate in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Desirable

  • Proven experience in manufacturing or production operations.

  • Experience with autonomous maintenance, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Knowledge of safety systems such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Control of Work, or TPM.

  • Understanding of pumps, valves, and industrial equipment.

  • Certificate III in Manufacturing, Engineering, Trade qualification, or equivalent.
