Department Introduction
The Automotive mNAND RMA team supports customer returns investigation through structured failure analysis, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement of laboratory processes. The team works in a high-tech semiconductor environment and collaborates with global engineering and quality partners to support root cause identification and product quality improvement.
Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated and diligent Failure Analysis Technician to support Physical Failure Analysis activities in a laboratory environment. The role focuses on hands-on execution of sample preparation, diagnostic tool operation, electrical characterization support, data documentation, and structured tracking of analysis activities. The position also contributes to tracking laboratory performance metrics, data quality, equipment care, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Physical Failure Analysis tasks to support root cause investigation of memories failures.
- Perform sample preparation activities, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and safe handling of samples.
- Conduct electrical characterization activities, such as curve trace, and support correlation with physical analysis results.
- Collect, document, and track analysis data, ensuring completeness and traceability.
- Support laboratory performance metrics monitoring.
- Collaborate with engineers and multi-functional team members to ensure timely analysis execution and clear communication of results.
- Maintain laboratory safety standards, equipment care, and adherence to procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve analysis quality, workflow efficiency, documentation, and lab performance.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Technical diploma in Electronics, Mechanics, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, laboratory practices, measurement methods and semiconductor devices.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accurate documentation and data traceability.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to learning, collaboration, innovation.
- Basic English communication skills; intermediate English is preferred for interactions with global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on familiarity with failure analysis tools such as SEM, CSAM, X-Ray, thermal emission, or equivalent laboratory equipment.
- Experience with sample preparation techniques such as backlapping, cross-sectioning, soldering, or rework.
- Basic experience with electrical characterization methods, including curve trace or similar techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory tracking systems, Excel, or structured data collection tools, Phyton scripting and AI tools.
- Knowledge of semiconductor technologies, failure analysis workflows, or quality/reliability laboratory environments.
The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay in for this position full-time is:
27.000,00 € - 49.000,00 € per year, with B1 CCNL Level.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
