The Community Outreach Representative will be responsible for community outreach and recruitment efforts for the adolescent health program. The objective of the adolescent health program is to equip adults with knowledge and skills to deliver trauma-informed care and build trusted adult-adolescent relationships, and, in turn promote adolescent resilience and positive mental health. This position will involve a diverse range of activities that will strengthen community partnerships; promote community engagement; increase community awareness on topics related to trauma-informed care, adolescent resiliency, and mental health; recruit participants for projects conducted as part of the adolescent health program; and expand the visibility of the adolescent health program in Franklin County. The Community Outreach Representative will serve as the organizer of the adolescent health program’s stakeholder advisory groups and coalitions and will work to expand the reach and impact of the adolescent health program within the community.
Furthermore, the Community Outreach Representative should display shared responsibility and collective action to address childhood adversity and its impacts throughout life. The ideal candidate will be committed to elevating the health and wellbeing of adolescents in Franklin County and believe in the importance of building trusted adult-adolescent relationships. This position will work closely with the project team, including the Project Director, Adolescent Health Coordinator, Steering Group, and Stakeholder Advisory Groups and coalitions. This position will report to the Project Director of the Adolescent Health Program, Dr. Lindsay Sullivan.
Responsibilities
Serves as the organizer of stakeholder advisory groups and coalitions and works closely with the Adolescent Health Coordinator.
Identifies, builds, and fosters relationships with community partners.
Works collaboratively with community stakeholders.
Coordinates and participates in events that provide visibility for the adolescent health program in Franklin County.
Develops new outreach and education programs for adolescent serving agencies and professionals.
Collaborates with the Adolescent Health Coordinator on coalition building, stakeholder engagement, agenda development, training needs, planning, and other coalition-related tasks as needed.
Contributes to the creation and implementation of a workplan to achieve the deliverables of the grant.
Creates plans to promote sustainability of program activities.
Plans, schedules, and co-facilitates advisory committee meetings to gather information for strategic planning.
Works with the project team to address training, technical assistance, and capacity building requested by our community partners.
Assists the Adolescent Health Coordinator to coordinate data collection activities, including surveys, focus groups, and key informant interviews as necessary.
Prepares and disseminates information to community partners and the public to promote a better understanding of the goals of the adolescent health program.
Communicates effectively with agencies or community centers supporting adolescents.
Remains current on adolescent health issues including childhood trauma (ACEs and their impact on the overall mental health and well-being of adolescents).
Responsibilities involve travel within Franklin County. A flexible daily schedule may be necessary.
Attends team meetings and assists with other duties as needed.
Assist with other duties as assigned and necessary.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Must show evidence of training and skills in cultural competency and cultural humility.
