Your New Role! 

Murdoch University Dubai is inviting applications for six academic leadership positions (refer to the attached Duty Statements for role-specific responsibilities): 

The roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the next stage of growth for Murdoch University’s branch campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

We are seeking talented, student-centred academics to join our collegial and growing campus community. Successful candidates will be appointed to an academic position at a level commensurate with their qualifications, experience, academic standing and discipline requirements, ranging from Lecturer (AU) / Assistant Professor (US) to Professor (AU) / Full Professor, Senior Distinguished Level (US). 

As a member of our academic team, you will deliver high-quality teaching, support student success, contribute to curriculum development and academic quality, and engage in research and scholarly activity aligned with Murdoch University’s standards and strategic priorities. 

These are academic appointments with responsibilities across both teaching and research. The role will involve curriculum delivery, unit coordination, assessment and moderation, student consultation and supervision, participation in academic governance and quality processes, industry engagement, and scholarly or research activity appropriate to the level of appointment.

This is an opportunity to join a campus with momentum. For academics who enjoy teaching, curriculum development, student engagement, and the practical application of research and scholarship, these roles offer a unique opportunity to shape the learning experiences of students in Dubai while remaining connected to Murdoch University’s broader academic community in Western Australia and across its global network. 

These positions are offered as fixed-term, full-time appointments for an initial three-year term. The nominal workload profile is expected to be approximately 85% teaching/service/leadership and 15% research, providing a strong focus on teaching while supporting ongoing research, scholarship, and professional contribution. 

  • 22 days annual holiday leave, plus public holidays 

  • Travel allowance - for employee and up to 3 eligible dependent family members 

  • Private health insurance – for employee and up to 3 eligible dependent family members 

  • Child education allowance - for up to 2 dependents 

  • Access to research opportunities  

What you’ll bring to the role 

Depending on the level of appointment, applicants will be expected to demonstrate an appropriate combination of: 

  • Relevant disciplinary expertise and academic qualifications appropriate to the level of appointment. 

  • Higher education teaching experience, including curriculum delivery, assessment and moderation capability. 

  • Research, scholarly activity and/or professional contribution appropriate to discipline and career stage. 

  • Industry, professional or community engagement relevant to the discipline area. 

  • Academic coordination, governance, leadership or quality assurance experience, where relevant to the level of appointment. 

  • A commitment to excellent teaching, student learning and student success. 

  • The ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural and transnational education environment.
