Reports To: Corporate Vice President of NursingSchedule: Full-Time | ExemptTravel: FrequentSalary: $200,000–$290,000 annually

 

The Regional Chief Nursing Officer (Regional CNO) provides hands-on executive leadership for nursing operations across a designated multi-hospital region. Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Nursing, this role partners with Chief Executive Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, physicians, and executive leadership to advance clinical excellence, operational performance, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the successful execution of enterprise-wide nursing initiatives.

Responsibilities

Serving as the primary liaison between Corporate Nursing and regional hospitals, the Regional CNO works alongside nursing leadership and interdisciplinary service lines—including Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Case Management, Quality, and other clinical departments—to implement corporate strategies, standardize clinical practice, and improve quality, patient outcomes, and operational performance. Through the effective use of operational, financial, staffing, and quality metrics, this leader removes barriers, develops practical solutions, and drives consistent execution across the region.

  • Provide hands-on executive leadership for nursing operations across multiple acute care hospitals within the assigned region.
  • Partner with the Corporate Vice President of Nursing to execute enterprise-wide clinical, operational, and quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Chief Executive Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, physicians, and interdisciplinary leaders to improve clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
  • Lead the implementation of standardized nursing practices, evidence-based care, corporate policies, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize operational, financial, staffing, and quality metrics to drive accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead change management initiatives by removing operational barriers, developing practical solutions, and ensuring successful implementation of corporate initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop nursing leaders while fostering collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.
  • Conduct regular regional site visits, executive rounding, and operational reviews to support local leadership and ensure alignment with corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, and all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Corporate Vice President of Nursing and executive leadership, providing strategic guidance on nursing operations, workforce strategy, and clinical performance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Minimum of two (2) years supervisory/management experience necessary.4. Minimum of five (5) years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.5. Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) required6. Master’s of Science in Nursing or related advanced administration/leadership degree required

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
