Examples of Duties:
- Sweeps and cleans streets, sidewalks, and gutters using a Glutton street Vac or a shovel and push broom.
- Will be required to operate a Glutton Street vac.
- Removes debris and dirt from sewer grates and catch basins.
- When necessary, shovels snow and sand.
- When necessary, cleans litter from vacant lots around the city.
- May be required to drive a truck and pull a trailer to and from downtown to deliver the glutton street vac’s to the job site.
- May be required to drive a City vehicle around downtown area to empty City-owned wastebaskets located on sidewalks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
- Employees in this position are required to work and walk outdoors in downtown Charleston
- You must be available to work the following shifts:
- Shift A: Thursday and Friday: 7am - 5pm
- Shift B: Saturday and Sunday: 3pm - 1am
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
