Position Summary:
A system level position in SPHP responsible for the managerial and operational functions within the specified laboratory section for all system sites. These responsibilities include organizing, coordinating and evaluating value oriented laboratory services offered in an expeditious manner for quality patient care. The manager is accountable for personnel staffing, training, scheduling, accuracy and timeliness of procedure performance, budgeting, materials management, regulatory compliance and evaluation of results within the assigned section.
Education Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree and certificate from a school of medical technology, or any other culmination meeting supervisory qualifications of the NYS Department of Health.
2. Prefer certification by a nationally recognized clinical laboratory certifying agency.
3. Valid New York State License from the Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT).
(Not mandatory for staff working in the Environmental Laboratory.)
Experience Requirements:
1. Six years laboratory experience required.
2. Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
3. Familiar with technology related to practice in assigned section.
