Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Benefits and Disability Management, the incumbent is responsible for the effective delivery of HR services in the areas of Health and Wellness and Benefits. The incumbent will manage the University’s Health and Wellness program and will develop related prevention actions and activities. Acts as an advisor to the University community with respect to the application of procedures and best practices. Works in close collaboration with the Benefits, Disability management and Organizational Development teams and other Universities stakeholders to provide support for the management of the University’s Health and wellness initiatives and priorities as well as any related duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage McGill University’s Health and Wellness program, ensuring strategic alignment with organizational priorities and employee needs.
- Create and implement a comprehensive annual programming calendar, incorporating conferences, communications, and educational content across multiple channels.
- Develop prevention activities and actions by using various sources of information.
- Plan, organize, and execute large-scale initiatives such as the annual Health Fair, promoting physical, mental, social, financial, and nutritional wellness.
- Oversee and continuously enhance the Health and Wellness website, ensuring relevant, accessible, and up-to-date content.
- Proactively improve the offering in accordance with new trends in wellness.
- Drive continuous improvement of programs by identifying emerging trends, benchmarking best practices, and introducing innovative approaches to employee wellness.
- Establish, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators to evaluate program effectiveness and return on investment, and recommend enhancements accordingly.
- Support, in collaboration with other stakeholders, the University’s efforts to obtain Excellence Canada certification as well as address psychosocial risks and their impact on employee’s psychological health and wellness.
- Facilitate a cross-functional working group with members of the University HR community to identify priorities, co-create initiatives, and strengthen engagement.
- Oversee and promote the activities related to the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and service providers.
- Provides support for the management of the University’s benefit programs.
Support the Associate Director, Benefits and Disability Management with other related projects and tasks.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Must have minimum 3 years of experience in managing Health and Well-Being programs or in a related position.
- Experienced in planning and organizing events.
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to persuade and influence in adverse situations.
- Proven ability to analyze HR data and develop strategies to improve programs and reduce costs.
- Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
- Proven team-player with success in building and maintaining strong, consistent, and positive working relationships.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a computerized environment.
- Membership in a professional order, such as the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés, is an asset.
- Written and spoken French and English.
