Description
Production Supervisor
Location: Bristol, PA
Schedule: First Shift | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM | 40 hours/week
Lead from the Floor. Drive Production. Build a Stronger Team.
Our client is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to provide direct leadership and coordination of daily manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment.
This is a high-visibility, 100% shop-floor-based leadership position. The successful candidate will be actively engaged with employees throughout the shift - monitoring production, balancing workloads, identifying bottlenecks, resolving issues, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and ensuring production priorities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
If you are a visible, decisive, hands-on, frontline manufacturing leader who prefers to lead by being present on the floor, not from behind a desk, this could be an excellent opportunity.
What You’ll Do
Shop Floor Leadership & Production Execution
- Maintain a consistent, visible leadership presence throughout the production floor
- Direct and coordinate daily activities of production employees to meet production priorities and schedules
- Assign and reposition employees throughout the shift based on workload, skills, bottlenecks, and changing production requirements
- Continuously monitor workflow, productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and employee performance
- Identify production delays and bottlenecks early and take immediate action to maintain product flow
- Escalate material, equipment, staffing, quality, and scheduling issues when additional support is required
- Keep employees productive, engaged, and focused throughout the shift
Employee Leadership & Accountability
- Provide direct day-to-day leadership to hourly production employees
- Clearly communicate expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, housekeeping, and workplace conduct
- Coach employees in real time and address performance or behavioral concerns promptly
- Recognize strong performance while holding employees accountable when expectations are not met
- Build teamwork and cooperation while maintaining clear supervisory authority and accountability
- Establish trust and credibility with employees while maintaining consistent standards
Safety Leadership
- Make employee safety the top priority in all production activities
- Continuously observe work practices and immediately correct unsafe behaviors or conditions
- Ensure employees follow required PPE, machine-safety, material-handling, and established work procedures
- Reinforce a culture where safe work practices are part of every employee’s daily responsibilities
Quality & Manufacturing Standards
- Ensure employees follow established manufacturing processes, specifications, and quality requirements
- Monitor work-in-process and finished-product quality throughout the shift
- Immediately address recurring defects, workmanship issues, and deviations from established standards
- Work with the team to identify and resolve problems affecting product quality and production performance
Housekeeping & 5S
- Maintain strong housekeeping and 5S standards throughout production areas
- Ensure aisles, workstations, equipment, tools, and material-storage areas remain organized, clean, and safe
- Reinforce workplace organization and standard work practices throughout the shift
The Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a hands-on production environment
- Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Shop Supervisor, Team Leader, Lead Person, or similar frontline leadership role is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to directly lead hourly manufacturing employees on the production floor
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflow, safety, quality, productivity, and employee accountability
- Ability to make timely decisions and solve problems in a fast-moving production environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to establish credibility with production employees while maintaining clear expectations and accountability
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, or continuous improvement principles is preferred
- Basic computer skills sufficient to review production information and complete required documentation
- High school diploma or equivalent required - technical training or college education is a plus, but not required
