About Semtech
Semtech is a high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductor company delivering innovative products for infrastructure, industrial, and consumer applications worldwide. Our Product Engineering team owns every new product from early silicon through full production release, coordinating tightly across design, test, characterization, quality, and manufacturing operations to deliver flawless, on-time execution.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Product Engineering Coordinator for NPI Product Engineering to own program planning, supply/logistics coordination, BOM and lifecycle management, and internal/external documentation for new product introduction programs. Reporting to the NPI Product Engineering Manager, this role is the operational backbone of each NPI program —milestone & schedule tracking, material shipment & inventory management, miscellaneous product engineering document generation and submission, and keeping NPI project documentation current — working closely with Product Engineering, Packaging, Quality, Supply Chain Operations & Planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning — 40% of role
- Develop and maintain NPI program schedules across all phases ensuring seamless transition from product concept to final release to manufacturing.
- Utilize Smartsheet tool to track program milestones, dependencies, and critical path items; proactively flag schedule risks and capture mitigation plans, and report to NPI Product Engineering, management, and stakeholders.
- Manage cross-functional NPI tasks, project activities and action items, and ensure timely closure of key NPI deliverables working with NPI product engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Collate cross-functional inputs from Project Lead, Design, Product Engineering, Test, Characterization, Quality, Packaging, Application, Planning and Operations to keep the NPI program plans current and accurate.
- Publish regular NPI program status updates and lead/support program review meetings with clear action items, owners and action closures.
- Support NPI product engineering with the submission and management of NPI product documents, document repositories and ensure phase-gate deliverables are on schedule and get completed as planned.
2. Supply Planning and Logistics Support — 30% of role
- Coordinate internal sample movement and OSAT bring-up/buyoff:
- Track wafer fab lot status and shipment logistics across internal and external partners.
- Ensure correct samples are shipped and arrive at the right location, in the right condition, and on schedule to internal customers while ensuring program timelines.
- Coordinate wafer backend processing and package build activities, priority setting, and status tracking with the Packaging team and/or external partners.
- Create and manage purchase orders for:
- Masks, wafers, and expedite requests while working with Design, Semtech Foundry Process Engineer, Supply Chain operations, and Foundry partners to secure priority and lead-time commitments.
- Corner lot builds in support of characterization and NPI product qualification plans.
- Assembly tooling (Waffle pack, Trays, Tape & Reel, Reconstructed Wafer etc.) required for sample builds and production parts.
3. Product Life Cycle Management — 15% of role
- Create and maintain part numbers, Bills of Material (BOM) & Routing across product life cycle.
- Ensure BOM accuracy and alignment with engineering change orders (ECOs) and design revisions.
- Prepare and manage NPI product release documentation throughout the product life cycle as required.
- Support product life cycle status management (NPI, active, EOL) in coordination with Supply Chain, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing.
- Support obsolescence management and second-source qualification activities as needed.
- Coordinate product End of Life (EOL) activities and scrap materials through MRB (Material Review Board) process.
4. Facilitate Internal and External Documentation — 15% of role
- Coordinate Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) assessments with Trade Compliance for new products and program changes.
- Create Purchase Requests (PRs) and Reservations in SAP.
- Assist with the submission and tracking of JIRA tickets for Wafer Configuration working with Software team.
- Coordinate creation and distribution of wafer map packages.
- Submit and maintain SBL/SYL limits for all NPI and/or Sustaining products monthly or as required.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of presentations, documents and/or reports for internal and external stakeholders working with NPI product engineering.
- Collaborate with NPI product engineering, Packaging and/or Reliability Engineering team with the preparation of backend wafer processing documentation and/or instructions.
- Prepare and track waiver requests as required to support product exceptions and/or program schedules
- Prepare and issue Product Change Notifications (PCNs), ensuring accurate content, timely customer communication, and proper internal sign-off.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in Supply Chain Management or a related technical field.
- 3–6 years of experience in semiconductor NPI program coordination, supply planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex program schedules with multiple cross-functional dependencies.
- Skilled in coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams across global locations and time zones.
