The Village of Buffalo Grove (Population 42,482) is currently seeking applicants for multiple Winter Seasonal Maintenance Workers in the Department of Public Works. Buffalo Grove Public Works is an APWA accredited agency providing high quality and innovative services that utilize technology to streamline service delivery. Performing a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks, including snow plowing/shoveling, painting, basic building maintenance/cleaning, street maintenance (concrete and asphalt), tree removal/trimming, utility excavation and repair, minor vehicle and equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned. Perform frontline winter snow and ice control activities as well as underground utility repairs. Operates dump, flat-bed, or other trucks in transporting personnel, materials, and supplies, operates construction-types of equipment. Will be required to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to use power and hand tools. Operates trucks equipped with snowplows and salt spreaders for use in snow and ice control. Performs related work as assigned and assists other sections as assigned. Candidates must be available to work outside of the regular work schedule, including holidays and weekends, often with little or no advance notice.Graduation from high school and some experience in work related to the area of assignment, or an ability to demonstrate relevant training, experience or work ethic. Possession of valid state issued driver’s license; Class "D" Illinois Driver's License. Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology for tracking work accomplished, through mobile devices such as iPads and other tablet devices (software specific training will be provided). Ideal candidates would have experience in the Public Works field (or similar) and would possess a valid CDL driver’s license (class A or B).The hourly salary for this position is $31.95, annual limit of 999 hours including overtime (x1.5 scale). Plan for those hours to be used continuously, Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm (with additional overtime), from point of hire until hours are exhausted. Overtime is an expectation of this position and requires the ability to report to work within one hour of contact. Winter Seasonal Maintenance Workers will be “on call” for the duration of the winter maintenance season. The expected duration of seasonal employment will begin on Monday, November 2, 2026, and conclude approximately on Friday, April 2, 2027, however a later start can be evaluated.
