The nurse navigator uses expertise in neuroscience to help patients, their families, and caregivers quickly and efficiently access care, particularly those dealing with complex neuromuscular conditions. This position supports East Hospital’s intrathecal injection program, serving as both a clinical advocate and educator.
Additionally, the navigator fosters connections within the community to guarantee timely care and works to remove obstacles and alleviate stress during transitions, ensuring a smooth experience for everyone involved.
Position Summary
The Nurse Navigator for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) serves as an essential guide, advocate, and coordinator for patients and their families facing these complex neuromuscular conditions. This specialized registered nurse helps streamline care, fosters collaboration across disciplines, and ensures patients receive comprehensive, timely support throughout their treatment journey.
Supporting the growing SMA and ALS program at OSUWMC, this role assists patients with navigating clinical processes such as appointments, diagnostic tests, and intrathecal procedures at OSUWMC’s East Hospital. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the patient navigator is crucial to both planning and the operational success of the intrathecal injection program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
