Plumbing Apprentice

This position will report to H. B. McClure Company, LLC, a subsidiary of HB Global.

We’re growing our commercial plumbing service team, servicing the Central PA area and are looking for an Commercial Plumbing Service Apprentice who is ready to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in the plumbing trade.

This is a service-focused role, not a traditional construction installation position. You’ll work alongside experienced Commercial Plumbing Service Technicians while developing the technical, troubleshooting, and customer service skills needed to eventually run service calls independently.

Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience and current skill level

What You’ll Do

As an Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians to:

• Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial plumbing and drainage systems, water heaters, fixtures, and related equipment
• Develop experience with specialized commercial systems, including sewer ejection pits and controls, commercial water heaters and mixing valves, flushometers, booster pumps, closed-loop piping systems, and pressure-reducing valves
• Support commercial drain cleaning, leak investigation, fixture repair, and preventive maintenance work
• Learn how to diagnose plumbing issues, identify possible solutions, and communicate findings to customers
• Use company-provided technology to complete service documentation, record job details, and communicate with the service team
• Maintain tools, materials, and a clean and organized work area
• Follow company safety practices and applicable plumbing codes
• Participate in technical training and hands-on development opportunities
• Progress toward handling service calls and participating in the on-call rotation once fully trained and qualified

What We’re Looking For

• Interest in building a career in commercial plumbing service
• Previous plumbing, maintenance, mechanical, construction, or trade-related experience preferred, but not required
• Basic understanding of hand tools and a willingness to develop plumbing and mechanical skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Willingness to learn commercial plumbing troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a hands-on field environment
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
• High school diploma or GED required
• Trade or technical school training preferred
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, climbing ladders, kneeling, and working in mechanical rooms and other commercial environments
