The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Bushings Mechanical Designer to join our innovative and forward-thinking Bushings R&D team in Zurich. You will play a crucial role in the development and design of innovative products and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project specifications are met while adhering to industry standards and design best practices. You will collaborate closely with a team of talented engineers, expanding your skills and making a meaningful impact on our organization’s success.
How you will make an impact
Lead the development of design specifications and models, ensuring they meet all relevant standards and regulations
Create precise engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications by applying standard internal processes and tools
Monitor and manage project timelines, ensuring design milestones are achieved and projects are delivered on schedule
Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and seek opportunities for design innovations
Infuse creativity into R&D projects with your innovative ideas and propose follow-up initiatives within your technical domain
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation that supports design processes and facilitates knowledge sharing
Engage constructively in team settings, sharing your technical knowledge to support colleagues in achieving timely and high-quality results
Your background
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
2-5 years of experience in mechanical design using CAD systems in R&D or engineering, preferably in high voltage equipment or components. Experience with bushings is valued
Proficiency using 3D modelling tools and creating and maintaining BOMs
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to effectively use external and internal standards and regulations
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Proactive attitude, self-motivated and with a strong sense of ownership
