Equix Energy Services is an energy and utilities contractor that provides high-quality pipeline and facility construction services. The Equix team is built on pride in the workmanship and abilities of our crews. Equix Energy Services is currently seeking an efficient, safety-minded CAD Drafter for underground utility construction services. The CAD Drafter prepares and maintains detailed engineering drawings and design plans for natural gas distribution systems. The role involves translating engineering and field information into accurate CAD drawings while ensuring designs comply with company standards, utility requirements and applicable codes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare CAD drawings for natural gas distribution systems, including gas mains, service lines, valves, regulators, meters, and related facilities
· Update existing drawings and incorporate field changes and redlines
· Maintain accurate drawing layers, symbols, dimensions, annotations, and drafting standards.
· Coordinate with engineers, designers, project managers, field personnel, surveyors, and utility companies
· Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards
· Incorporate revisions from engineering reviews and field inspections
· Assist with preparation of material quantities, work packages, and construction documentation
· Maintain organized CAD files, drawing sets, and project documentation
· Work with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, or utility-specific design software
· Follow applicable federal, state, local, and company requirements governing natural gas distribution design and construction.
· Support multiple projects while meeting project schedules, quality requirements, and drafting standards.
Education and/or Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical drafting, CAD, engineering technology, or related education is preferred
· Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with Civil 3D or GIS is a plus
· Understanding of utility infrastructure, preferably natural gas distribution systems
· Ability to interpret engineering plans, survey information, specifications, and field sketches
· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain drafting accuracy
· Knowledge of CAD layering, blocks/cells, Xrefs/references, annotation, plotting, and drawing standards
· Ability to read construction plans and understand utility locations and right-of-way information
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Utility, pipeline, gas distribution, or civil engineering drafting experience is highly desirable
