Technical Writer - Software Engineering (m/f/n)

Summary

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team. You should be able to understand complex software systems and transform technical information into clear, accurate, and user-focused product content. You are structured in your thinking, precise in your communication, and comfortable working with software engineers, architects, DevOps teams, and product managers.

As a Technical Writer, you will

• Create and maintain product content for ESET software, APIs, services, and integrations.
• Develop user guides, deployment guides, administrator documentation, API documentation, release notes, and troubleshooting content.
• Use modern documentation, collaboration, and AI-assisted authoring tools to improve productivity and content quality.
• Work closely with software engineers, architects, QA engineers, technical support, product managers, and localization teams.
• Review product and content changes and identify documentation requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Configure and test software environments to validate documentation and reproduce user scenarios.
• Report product defects, usability issues, and documentation gaps discovered during testing and documentation activities.
• Contribute to documentation standards, style guidelines, and content quality initiatives.
• Participate in the enhancement of documentation processes, workflows, and tools.

Our requirements

• Have excellent written English and can communicate complex technical topics clearly and concisely. Have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Have at least 2 years of experience in technical writing, software documentation, engineering documentation, or a similar role.
• Understand fundamental software engineering concepts such as APIs, authentication, authorization, databases, client-server architecture, microservices, and cloud services.
• Can work with technical specifications, engineering designs, logs, configuration files, and command-line tools.
• Are comfortable reading, understanding and editing scripts and configuration files such as Bash, PowerShell, YAML, JSON, or similar formats.
• Have basic knowledge of modern software delivery practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and Docker.
• Can work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed technical teams.

Basic wage component (brutto): from 2300 EUR/m.

* The final basic wage component can be increased accordingly to individual skills and experience of the selected candidate. 
* Performance bonus 2 times per year up to 10% of the basic salary paid for the evaluation period(usually 6 months).
