BMET III 

Full-Time, First Shift

Biomedical Engineering

 

The Biomedical Engineering Department at Baptist Health is dedicated to ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of all medical equipment used in patient care. 

 

Under direct supervision, the BioMed Tech III installs, test, repairs, maintains, and calibrates clinical medical devices following established policies and procedures and according to manufacturer guidelines and recommendations. The BioMed Tech III ensures adherence to hospital and departmental policies and regulatory standards and guidelines. Demonstrates commitment to the mission, quality, philosophy, and values of the Baptist Health System. Other duties as may be assigned. 

 

Job Description: 

  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the medical device preventative maintenance program, including PM work orders generated through the TMS software application. 

  • Completes Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance work orders on a daily basis. 

  • Participates in on-call after hours support rotation. 

  • Follows all safety and infection control policies. 

  • Responds promptly to customer requests. 

  • Demonstrates procedure for generating a work order, including retrieving a generated work order via computer or approved mobile device. 

  • Reviews priority status and obtains necessary materials for completion of work order. 

  • Communicates with customer or requester work order status and, when completed, notifies customer or requester that the device is ready for use. 

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe and approved troubleshooting techniques on medical devices. 

  • Reads schematics and service manuals, consults with vendors and service representatives to assist in troubleshooting. 

  • Utilizes basic test equipment and completes repairs in a time and cost-effective manner with patient safety as the primary concern. 

  • Documents work performed and any significant performance data. 

  • Trains and mentors BMET Students, BMET I, and BMET II in new and emerging medical device technologies. 

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Associates Degree in BioMed ET, IT 

  • Five Years of related experience 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Bachelors Degree in BioMed Eng, IT 

  • AAMI CBET certification, Networking A+, IT Project, Cybersecurity
