The role
As a Legacy IBA Account Handler, you will play a key role within the finance function, managing historic accounting positions across Howden finance ledgers and supporting the run-off and closure of acquired businesses. The role is accountable for resolving aged balances, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering successful run-off outcomes in line with Group policies.
What you'll be doing
Review and clear outstanding balances across client, insurer and third-party accounting ledgers.
Scope, plan and prioritise accounting activities to support run-off projects and aged debt resolution.
Investigate complex accounting issues and identify practical, compliant solutions.
Negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive commercial and financial outcomes.
Ensure historic accounting activity complies with client money regulations and FCA requirements.
Monitor and manage credit write-back activity in line with approval processes and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate project records and ensure audit requirements are met.
Produce timely management information and project updates for reporting purposes.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support future run-off activity.
Deliver work to agreed deadlines, supporting KPI reporting and project completion targets.
Who we're looking for
Experience managing aged ledger balances within the insurance industry.
Previous experience working within an insurance finance, IBA or accounting environment.
Proven ability to investigate complex accounting issues and determine appropriate solutions.
Experience applying client money and regulatory requirements within financial processes.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience analysing financial data and using insights to support decision-making.
Experience producing reports and presenting findings to management and business stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against agreed deadlines.
Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
AAT or a relevant finance qualification would be advantageous.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong numerical, analytical and financial problem-solving capability.
