Compensation: $140,000 - $195,000 / year



Description

As a Senior Vehicle Certification Engineer, you will work directly with vehicle engineering and mission management teams to support critical flight systems certification activities. The certification team is responsible for ensuring that Impulse builds the processes and systems the customer will review to evaluate Impulse’s mission readiness.


Responsibilities

  • Develop systems to document Impulse / customer interactions and feedback, and track customer approval and acceptance 
  • Work with the vehicle engineering team to build and optimize engineering process flows for customer deliverables
  • Analyze government and commercial customer requirements and standards to determine compatibility with Impulse product lines 
  • Perform specialized analysis in support of verification activities; lead or participate in tests and demonstrations in support of requirement verification, including joint testing with customers
  • Interact directly with customers to describe vehicle design and functionality, answer customer technical questions independently
  • Implement changes in engineering, manufacturing and management systems to improve Impulse processes while maximizing compatibility with customer requirements and standards
  • Support launch and mission operations, as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in an aerospace field 
  • Prior experience working directly on design, manufacturing, analysis and testing of liquid propulsion, launch systems or spacecraft
  • Proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics and materials
  • Prior experience with vehicle elements including primary structures, pressurized structures, welded structures, thermal insulation, and secondary structures 
  • Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working collaboratively



Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills and desire to attain highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience as a Responsible Engineer for a vehicle or subassembly with responsibility for full lifecycle hardware development
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with any of the following: requirements development, requirements verification, engineering design, hardware production, test and evaluation, test plan and procedures development, NASA or USSF certification of spacecraft and launch vehicles, NASA or USSF engineering standards
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in at least one of the following disciplines: design engineering, mission management, production and test, launch and mission operations, flight testing, systems integration and engineering, or project management
