As we open our new Texas plant, we are seeking a Mechanical Packaging Supervisor to establish and lead our mechanical packaging operations. The Mechanical Packaging Supervisor will play a critical role in supporting production schedules, ensuring product quality, developing team members, and establishing the standards and processes that will support the long-term success of Fidelity Manufacturing's newest operation. We design and build backup power packages, including tanks and enclosures, for healthcare, industrial, and technology-driven customers that require uninterrupted power at all times. Job Summary


The Mechanical Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Mechanical Packaging department, ensuring that production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations are achieved. This position directs and supports a team responsible for preparing tanks and enclosures for generator assembly through mechanical assembly, piping, rigging, accessory installation, and related manufacturing processes. 


The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, leadership experience, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, blueprint interpretation, generator packaging systems, and team development. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical leadership and operational management to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production performance. 


As the Texas facility grows, this position will be instrumental in developing employees, establishing standardized work practices, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the continued expansion of packaging operations. 


Essential Job Functions


Production Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Mechanical Packaging employees to achieve production, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards for team members.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of future Packaging personnel.
  • Monitor staffing levels and allocate resources to support production goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to employees.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct performance discussions, coaching, and skill development activities. 

Production Planning & Operations

  • Manage daily Mechanical Packaging production schedules and communicate operational priorities.
  • Coordinate workflow with Production, Fabrication, Shipping, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust resources as needed to maintain schedule commitments.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Support startup activities, process development, and operational improvements within the Texas facility. 

Mechanical Packaging Operations

  • Oversee the preparation of tanks and enclosures for generator assembly.
  • Ensure proper installation of fuel systems, exhaust systems, piping, generators, vents, breakers, battery systems, filters,      and related accessories.
  • Support safe and effective rigging, lifting, and material handling activities.
  • Ensure employees properly interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Verify proper assembly techniques, fitment, installation quality, and workmanship standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and assembly-related issues when required.
  • Support continuous improvement of departmental processes and assembly methods. 

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Monitor workmanship and product quality throughout production processes.
  • Review and maintain required quality documentation and inspection records.
  • Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization efforts.
  • Drive consistency through standardized work instructions and best practices. 

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the department.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and address unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and established safe work practices.
  • Support safety training, incident investigations, and corrective action activities.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards and company operational procedures.
  • Serve as a role model for safe and responsible work practices. 

Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical manufacturing, assembly, packaging, or related industrial experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly processes and manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules and workforce activities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively coach, train, and develop employees.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required. 

Highly Preferred

  • Generator packaging, power generation, or industrial equipment assembly experience.
  • Commercial generator experience.
  • Experience with fuel systems, exhaust systems, piping, rigging, and generator installations.
  • Experience leading manufacturing teams in a fabrication or assembly environment.
  • Forklift and material handling equipment experience.
  • Experience supporting startup operations, facility expansions, or new manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies. 

Preferred

  • Technical school, trade school, or vocational education in a mechanical, industrial, or related field.
  • Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Experience with quality systems, ISO standards, and production reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and production scheduling tools.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience. 

Working Conditions


Work is performed primarily in an active manufacturing environment with regular exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and industrial byproducts within OSHA-permissible limits. Work areas include manufacturing floors, fabrication areas, warehouse spaces, outdoor yard locations, and assembly stations. Employees regularly work around generators, tanks, enclosures, forklifts, cranes, tools, piping systems, and production equipment. 


The position requires a significant presence on the production floor to monitor operations, support employees, review work quality, and ensure safe and efficient production activities. Required PPE must be worn at all times in designated work areas, and all safety procedures and training requirements must be followed

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to operate tools,  equipment, computers, and production systems.
  • Ability to maintain visual acuity required to inspect workmanship, review documentation, and monitor operations.
  • Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment, mechanical systems, forklifts, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to respond to operational and production issues as needed.
