Compressor/ Equipment Tech IV

Overview

The Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing oil and gas production equipment, with a primary focus on high-speed compressors, engines, pumps, and VRUs. 

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-speed compressors, engines, pumps, VRUs, and other rotating equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
• Support compressor surveillance, reliability, and optimization efforts.
• Manage assigned work orders and maintenance backlog.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and parts inventory needed for compressor maintenance.
• Identify equipment failures and assist with root-cause analysis.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical and automation equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records.
• Follow all safety, environmental, operating, and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance teams, and contractors as needed.
• Support initiatives focused on reducing operating costs and improving equipment uptime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• 1–3+ years of industrial/mechanical maintenance experience working with rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps, and VRUs.
• Experience maintaining and repairing high-speed compressors and engines preferred.
• Experience with equipment in the 500–2,500 HP range preferred.
• Knowledge of oil and gas surface production equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to perform basic electrical and automation troubleshooting.
• Ability to identify equipment failures and support root-cause analysis.
• SAP and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors, climb stairs, lift/carry equipment, and wear required PPE.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and safety awareness.
