Kidney Health Senior Research Fellow

• 2x Part-time (up to 0.8 FTE), fixed-term until 31 December 2027 or 2-years from commencement, based on Camperdown Campus

• Base Salary $162,347 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Join the Sydney Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney and play a leading role in advancing world-class kidney health research that improves outcomes for people living with kidney disease. As a Senior Research Fellow, you will provide clinical academic leadership for the delivery of major kidney health trials, working alongside Australian and international collaborators. You will contribute to or lead competitive grant applications and the development of new studies, build relationships with sites and partners, publish and present your work, and support the development of early career researchers, contributing to the Centre's reputation for research excellence.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Provide day-to-day academic leadership for one or more clinical trials within the Centre's kidney health program, including oversight of a professional staff team and advice to sites on clinical matters.

• Contribute to the design and development of new trials and related studies, and to competitive grant applications.

• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate findings through academic, professional and community engagement.

• Supervise and mentor higher degree research students, postdoctoral researchers and early career academics, fostering excellence and capability within the research team.Contribute to the administrative and governance activities of the Sydney Clinical Trials Centre and the University, supporting a collaborative and inclusive research environment.

• Build a national and international profile through trial collaborations and related research, contributing to the University's strategic priorities and enhancing its reputation for excellence in kidney health research.

About you

• PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, with a track record of original, high-quality research in kidney health or a closely related field.

• An emerging national research profile, with a growing reputation for advancing knowledge within the discipline.

• Demonstrated success in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with academic, clinical, industry and professional partners.

• Experience supervising and mentoring higher degree research students, early career researchers and professional staff within a collaborative research environment.

• Networks with national and international nephrology organisations, and established relationships with Australian nephrology sites and clinical networks.

• Experience working within multi-site or internationally led trial collaborations.

• Experience in the conduct of trials of nutritional or novel interventions in chronic disease, including kidney disease (desirable).

• Research experience with new guideline-directed medical therapies in cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic disease (desirable).
