Description

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a driven and curious Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join DisplayNote and own the first stage of our sales process.

You’ll be responsible for turning inbound interest into properly qualified sales opportunities, while also identifying and engaging new target accounts through structured outbound prospecting.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in B2B technology sales. You’ll develop hands-on experience in prospecting, discovery, qualification and enterprise sales while playing a direct role in building DisplayNote’s pipeline and supporting our next stage of growth.

Job Description:

About DisplayNote

DisplayNote builds the software experience layer for shared meeting rooms and learning spaces. Think of DisplayNote as the Apple CarPlay of shared spaces. The display, hardware and meeting platform may change, but DisplayNote creates a familiar, secure and consistent experience for the person using the room.

Our two core platforms — Launcher and Montage — help organisations start meetings, share content, manage rooms centrally and create more predictable experiences across classrooms, meeting rooms and shared spaces. DisplayNote technology is embedded in hundreds of thousands of spaces worldwide through partnerships with leading display manufacturers and is also sold directly to enterprise, education and technology customers.

We are growing from a software business with a strong OEM-embedded footprint into a category-defining infrastructure platform. Our 2030 target is to double ARR, with mid-market enterprise direct sales and channel partnerships as the primary growth engines.

The Role

You own the first stage of our sales process. Every enquiry that reaches DisplayNote — a web form, a free trial signup, a conversation at a trade show, a partner referral or a marketing lead — is yours to work. You decide, quickly and based on evidence, which of them are real. The ones that are, you develop into properly qualified opportunities and hand over to our sales team. The ones that are not, you say so and move on.

Alongside that, you go and find the accounts that have not found us yet — researching organisations with meeting-room estates that are causing them pain and opening conversations with the IT and workplace technology leaders who own the problem.

You will not be closing deals in this role. You will be deciding what our salespeople spend their time on, which is one of the highest-leverage things an early-stage commercial person can do. It is also the fastest way we know to learn how enterprise sales actually works.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Following up every inbound enquiry and trial signup fast. The target is meaningful first contact within the hour during working hours.

  • Running structured outbound prospecting into named target accounts by phone, email and LinkedIn.

  • Holding 8–10 real discovery conversations a week with IT Managers, Heads of IT and Workplace Technology Leads.

  • Qualifying properly — understanding what is actually broken, what it is costing them, what is forcing them to act now and who has to say yes.

  • Writing genuinely useful handovers, so the salesperson taking your meeting never has to ask a question you already had the answer to.

  • Keeping the CRM honest. Every conversation, outcome and next step is recorded the same day. This is not admin around the job — it is a large part of the job.

  • Testing and improving your own outreach and telling the rest of us what worked.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 30 days: You know our two products and the customers they're built for. You're following up every inbound enquiry within our response standard, and you've handed over your first few qualified opportunities.

  • First 90 days: You're running your own outbound activity into two target segments, handling common objections without help and consistently creating around ten qualified opportunities a month.

  • First 12 months: You're a reliable, self-managing source of pipeline. You've influenced deals that have closed, and you understand this market well enough to have opinions about it that the rest of us listen to.

Who We're Looking For

  • Resilient. Most of what you send will be ignored. That has to bounce off you in an hour, not a week. Tell us about a bad month and what you did in week three of it.

  • Process-driven. You have a routine and you run it whether or not anyone is watching. Nothing falls through.

  • Always improving. You change one thing at a time, measure it and keep what works.

  • Curious. You research a company before you call it, and you ask "why now?" rather than "are you interested?"

  • Straight. You'd rather log an honest "not a fit" than book a meeting that wastes a colleague's afternoon. We would too.

  • Persuasive. You can earn twenty minutes from a Head of IT who had not planned to give you any, and you can write an email a senior technical person will read to the end.

  • AI-first. See below — this one matters to us more than most employers will admit it matters to them.

Most people who succeed here will have around a year of experience in a target-carrying, phone-based commercial role. But if you have been genuinely tested somewhere else — recruitment, hospitality, fundraising or anywhere that involved being turned down repeatedly and coming back — and you want to build a sales career properly, we want to hear from you.

Working AI-First

We expect the person in this role to use AI as their default working method, not as an occasional novelty. Account research, list building, call preparation, first drafts, call summaries, CRM entry — if a task is repetitive, we want your instinct to be to automate it rather than absorb it. You'll have an in-house AI champion to help you do this.

What we are not looking for is volume for its own sake. An AI-written email that a CIO can smell is worse than no email at all. The skill we are hiring for is judgement about the output: knowing when it is good, knowing when to throw it away and knowing where your own voice has to take over.

You will be encouraged to use AI tools during our practical interview stage. We are interested in how you use them.

Where This Leads

We are building this role as the entry point into business development at DisplayNote, and we would rather be specific than vague about it.

Over twelve to eighteen months, the things that move you towards a closing role are: consistently hitting your qualified-opportunity numbers at a high acceptance rate, developing genuinely deep discovery skills, building real credibility in meeting-room technology, and learning to build and defend a commercial case.

Package

  • Base salary: £42,000

  • On-target earnings: £70,000

  • Commission: Paid monthly on qualified opportunities you create and quarterly on new business revenue that starts with you. Uncapped, with accelerators for over-performance.

  • Ramp: A guaranteed element of your commission for your first three months, so you can focus on learning the market rather than chasing a number.

  • Benefits: Pension, private healthcare, hybrid working from our Belfast HQ, gym membership, combined annual leave, access to the wider Volaris Group network, and long-term career and internal progression opportunities across a global family of software companies.

  • Location: Belfast office, hybrid working

  • Reporting to: Head of Sales

How the Process Works

There are four stages, and we aim to complete them within three weeks:

  • A 20-minute introductory call with our People and HR Manager, assessing culture fit.

  • A one-hour structured interview about how you work, using real examples.

  • A practical session — content TBC.

  • A final conversation with our CEO about where you want to get to.

We will give you feedback at every stage, whether or not you go forward.

DisplayNote Technologies is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals.

All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. Offers of employment will be subject to reference checks.
