Finding better ways™ to provide the materials the world needs. We are looking for a Senior Analyst to support the evaluation and development of growth opportunities for Rio Tinto's Copper portfolio.

Working within Copper’s Growth and Development team and reporting to the Manager, Business Development (Copper), you will provide commercial and analytical support for acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and inorganic growth initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in financial modelling, valuation, transaction analysis and commodity markets while helping shape growth decisions across the portfolio.

What you'll be doing

• Build and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, project economics and strategic initiatives.
• Conduct valuation, scenario and sensitivity analyses to support business development decisions.
• Assess acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and other growth opportunities through commercial and financial analysis.
• Prepare business cases, investment memoranda and decision-making materials for senior stakeholders.
• Support due diligence activities by coordinating and analysing technical, commercial and financial information.
• Contribute to transaction execution, opportunity evaluation and stakeholder coordination across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support negotiations by preparing commercial assessments, financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Analyse copper market fundamentals and identify growth opportunities across the copper value chain.

About you

• A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
• Degree qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in corporate finance, business development, professional services,  transaction services, investment banking, consulting, strategy, commercial analysis or a related field.
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills with the ability to interpret complex commercial scenarios.
• Experience analysing investment opportunities, undertake due diligence and developing commercial recommendations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a global environment.

Helpful for Success

• Experience within mining, metals, natural resources, infrastructure or energy sectors.
• Understanding of commodity markets and pricing mechanisms.
• Experience developing business cases and investment recommendations.

Where You'll Be Working

Our global headquarters is situated in St. James’s Square, in the City of Westminster, London, on the edge of the West End, and is the site of the group’s original head office.  Located over several floors, the office is truly a global hub for the business and is the base for many members of the Executive Committee.  As such, the grade II listed office reflects the vibrancy of the location, although it also overlooks the tranquillity of the only garden square in the district and is a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly underground stations.
