What’s your possible?
At Northrop Grumman UK, you are part of a team driving innovation where it matters most, solving tomorrow’s challenges and shaping the technology solutions of the future. It’s what we call Defining Possible.
This mindset goes beyond our customer solutions. It is the foundation for your career development and the impact we have within the community.
This is more than just a job. It’s a mission.
Join our Cyber & Intelligence business and become part of a growing Operational Effects team that is building the next generation of AI-enabled products for national security and government customers.
As an AI Product Engineer, you will help create proprietary software capabilities that deliver operational advantage, strengthen existing programmes, and unlock future growth opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and play a key role in establishing and scaling a new AI product engineering capability within Northrop Grumman UK.
Working alongside engineers, technical specialists and users, you will take products from concept through to adoption. You will help shape technical direction, influence product strategy, and deliver innovative solutions using modern AI technologies including large language models (LLMs), retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.
If you enjoy solving real-world problems, experimenting with emerging technologies and building software that has meaningful impact, this could be the opportunity for you.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
- Design, build and maintain AI-enabled software products that support operational mission outcomes.
- Develop capabilities using LLMs, RAG architectures, agentic workflows and other emerging AI technologies.
- Work directly with users and stakeholders to understand challenges and translate requirements into valuable product features.
- Contribute to product roadmaps, software architecture decisions and engineering standards.
- Implement robust engineering practices including testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability and supportability.
- Support technical demonstrations, stakeholder engagement activities, innovation initiatives and recruitment efforts.
What we’re looking for
We are interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate:
- Experience designing, developing or supporting software products or applications.
- Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including testing, version control and continuous integration.
- Experience or strong interest in AI technologies, machine learning, LLMs, RAG solutions or intelligent automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable experience
- Defence, national security, government or advanced technology sector experience.
- Experience developing AI-enabled products or data-driven applications.
- Exposure to cloud-native technologies, modern software architectures and DevOps practices.
- Experience mentoring colleagues or contributing to technical leadership activities.
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline, although equivalent experience is equally valued.
Even if you do not meet every requirement, we would still encourage you to apply. We value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, and recognise that great potential can come from many different career paths.
