## Summary

  • The Manufacturing Director will join the Lam Manufacturing Malaysia (LMM) Batu Kawan Operations leadership team, one of Lam's most strategically important manufacturing organizations.
  • LMM serves as a major capacity engine within Lam's global manufacturing network, enabling significant business growth through expanded manufacturing capability and operational excellence.
  • The organization is responsible for delivering industry-leading performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity while supporting a rapidly growing and increasingly complex product portfolio.
  • Working across a broad cross-functional ecosystem, the team drives capacity realization, workforce development, productivity transformation, and customer satisfaction.
  • This role will be instrumental in ensuring LMM continues to scale effectively while supporting Lam's long-term growth objectives.

## The impact you’ll make

  • The Manufacturing Director will play a critical leadership role in translating LMM's expanded manufacturing capacity into sustainable business results through strong operational execution, workforce development, and productivity improvement.
  • The position will provide dedicated ownership and governance for a large-scale manufacturing organization, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer commitments.
  • By increasing leadership capacity and operational focus, the role will accelerate decision-making, strengthen employee engagement, and improve organizational responsiveness in a rapidly growing and increasingly complex environment.
  • The Director will also drive cross-functional alignment across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to enable scalable growth and operational excellence.
  • Ultimately, this role will help ensure LMM remains a reliable and strategic manufacturing engine for Lam's long-term growth objectives.

## What you’ll do

  • Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations to achieve world-class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity (SQDCP) objectives.
  • Own factory output and capacity realization, ensuring LMM successfully converts expanded manufacturing capacity into sustainable customer shipments and business results.
  • Drive operational excellence and manufacturing discipline through robust management systems, visual performance management, standard work, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Provide leadership for a large manufacturing organization, including managers, supervisors, and direct labor teams, while building a strong culture of accountability, engagement, and inclusion.
  • Develop organizational capability and leadership bench strength through talent development, succession planning, coaching, and workforce capability-building to support future growth.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, NPI, and Business Units to ensure seamless execution of production plans, product transitions, and customer requirements.
  • Lead productivity and cost improvement initiatives by identifying operational bottlenecks, improving manufacturing flow, reducing waste, and increasing labor productivity.
  • Ensure manufacturing readiness for capacity expansion, product ramps, and business growth, including workforce planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish strong operational governance and risk management processes to proactively identify, escalate, and resolve issues affecting safety, quality, delivery, or customer satisfaction.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, leveraging Lean, Shingo, digitalization, automation, and best-practice deployment across the manufacturing organization.
  • Represent manufacturing in site and executive leadership forums, providing strategic input on factory performance, capacity planning, workforce strategy, and operational priorities.
  • Support Lam's long-term growth objectives by developing scalable manufacturing systems, organizational structures, and operational capabilities that enable sustainable growth within existing and future manufacturing footprints.

## Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree (MBA or Engineering) preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including leadership of large-scale production organizations in a high-tech, semiconductor, electronics, or complex industrial environment.
  • Proven track record of leading organizations with significant operational scope, including responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams through periods of rapid growth, capacity expansion, organizational transformation, or factory start-up and ramp.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate operational strategies into measurable business outcomes, including revenue enablement, cost optimization, and productivity improvement.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining operational excellence methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Shingo, Continuous Improvement, or equivalent manufacturing systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional organizations and influence stakeholders across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and Business Units.
  • Strong capability in workforce planning, talent development, succession management, employee engagement, and leadership coaching.
  • Experience managing complex product portfolios, manufacturing capacity planning, product transitions, and customer-critical delivery commitments.
  • Demonstrated success driving productivity improvements through automation, digitalization, industrial engineering, data analytics, or manufacturing systems transformation.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present operational strategies, business risks, and performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Experience operating in a global manufacturing environment with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions, cultures, and organizational boundaries.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
