Mō te tūranga | About the role

Step into a fast-paced role where you’ll lead end-to-end recruitment across our Wellington-based depots and make a real impact from day one. Partnering closely with operational leaders, you’ll help shape the future workforce, respond to immediate hiring needs, and bring in the skills and capability needed to deliver essential water services to our communities.

Using your market insight and sound judgement, you’ll help us look ahead, secure scarce capability, and make smart hiring decisions that set us up for long-term success.

You will build direct sourcing strategies and talent pools for our serviceperson roles, strengthen workforce planning, support internal mobility, and help develop our apprenticeship/trainee pipeline.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact, this is it. You’ll work closely with leaders, build strong connections across the business, and develop a solid understanding of the water sector to help drive better hiring decisions.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Write compelling job adverts that attract quality candidates and accurately reflect role requirements

  • Deliver high-quality, proactive and timely recruitment support and advice aligned with our workforce needs, plans and strategy

  • Develop targeted recruitment, sourcing and talent attraction strategies tailored to the needs of each role, business area and those hard to fill roles.

  • Improve recruitment processes, tools and leader capability to create greater consistency, pace and quality across the group.

  • Create an outstanding candidate experience that is professional, respectful and responsive

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We're looking for someone who

You’re a proactive talent professional who knows how to make things happen. You bring strong recruitment or talent acquisition experience, love working at pace, and are just as comfortable thinking ahead as you are rolling up your sleeves to deliver.

You know this role is about more than filling jobs. You build strong relationships, get close to the business, and take the time to understand what leaders really need. You’re confident, engaging passive talent, building quality pipelines for critical or hard-to-fill roles, and using market insight to shape smart, practical hiring approaches.

You thrive in operational environments, can juggle multiple priorities, and bring energy, credibility and good judgement to everything you do. Most of all, you’re motivated by the opportunity to help build the workforce behind essential water services that matter to our communities.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • At least 5+ years recruitment or talent acquisition experience, ideally in a fast-paced, operational or infrastructure environment

  • A proactive sourcing mindset and confidence engaging passive candidates

  • The ability to build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and stakeholders

  • Strong market insight and the confidence to provide practical, credible hiring advice

  • Excellent communication skills and a sharp eye for writing effective, engaging adverts
