Roxborough Memorial Hospital is a 131-bed community hospital. The hospital has been serving the medical and health care needs of the Roxborough, Manayunk, East Falls and northwest section of Philadelphia communities for more than a century, having first opened its doors in 1890. Roxborough Memorial Hospitals School of Nursing has been educating nurses since 1898. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation's oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.

 

Responsibilities

The Clinical Educator provides educational services for areas of clinical and patient care services to attain the Hospital's objectives, mission and values established by corporate administration. Supports corporate-wide programs, policies and procedures are developed to assess, evaluate and meet the needs of the patient. Assists with development and implementation of education plans for providing training in all clinical settings. The Clinical Educator provides hands on training for clinical staff to support the educational goals for the hospital. Implements an effective, ongoing training program to measure, assess and improve the quality of care, treatment and services delivered to all patients. The Clinical Educator shall work collaboratively with the Nursing Directors to provide educational services to staff.

 

The Per Diem Educator can expect about 20 hours per week on average.

 

Expectation is to own certain facets of nursing education:

• IV class (6-hour class) 6 times a year
• EKG/Phlebotomy class for PCAs (2-hour class) 2 times a month

Additional duties include:

Rounding on the units when on site usually 1-2 hours

Assist in the competency skills nursing fair 4 times a year: 2 are 8 hour days,  2 are 4 hour days

Assist with orientation two times a month generally, the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month

Provide shift coverage and operational support as needed.

 

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Must have a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.

Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Minimum of 5 years acute care experience.

Minimum of 2 years previous educational experience preferred.
