GENERAL MANAGER
Organization: Goodfellow Corporation Reports To: Vice Presidents of Operations and Sales
POSITION SUMMARY
Goodfellow Corporation is seeking an experienced, results-driven General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, profitability, and operational performance of the assigned branch or business operation.
This position will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across sales, parts, service, and other branch operations, ensuring that each department is aligned with Goodfellow Corporation's overall business strategy and growth objectives. The General Manager will be accountable for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, improving operational efficiency, strengthening customer relationships, and developing high-performing teams.
The ideal candidate is a strong business leader who understands how to balance sales growth, customer service, operational execution, financial performance, and employee development. This individual will establish clear goals, hold teams accountable for results, and create a culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, safety, compliance, and exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the assigned branch, ensuring departmental priorities and activities support Goodfellow Corporation's strategic objectives and company growth goals.
- Develop and execute branch-level business strategies designed to increase revenue, profitability, market share, and customer retention.
- Establish measurable short- and long-term goals for the branch and communicate a clear vision for success to department managers and employees.
- Identify opportunities for business expansion, operational improvement, and increased penetration within existing and new markets.
- Monitor industry trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and market conditions to identify opportunities and potential business risks.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement strategies that support sustainable company growth.
Sales & Market Development
- Provide leadership and oversight to the sales organization, ensuring sales activities and territory strategies align with company revenue and growth objectives.
- Drive increased sales and market share across Goodfellow Corporation's complete product and service offerings.
- Establish expectations for sales performance, customer development, territory growth, and account management.
- Review sales activity, pipeline performance, forecasts, and results to identify opportunities and ensure accountability.
- Support the development of strategic customer relationships and participate in key customer meetings and business development opportunities as appropriate.
- Promote collaboration between Sales, Parts, Service, and Operations to maximize customer value and identify additional revenue opportunities.
- Ensure the branch delivers a consistent, professional customer experience throughout the entire customer relationship.
Financial & Operational Performance
- Assume accountability for the overall financial and operational performance of the branch.
- Utilize profit and loss statements, sales reports, budgets, forecasts, and other key performance indicators to evaluate business performance and guide decision-making.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics related to revenue, profitability, productivity, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and departmental performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve margins, increase productivity, and strengthen overall business performance.
- Work with department managers to develop action plans when performance falls below established goals.
- Ensure company resources, equipment, facilities, and assets are properly managed, maintained, and accounted for.
- Promote consistent and efficient business processes that support scalable growth across the organization.
Parts & Service Leadership
- Partner with Parts and Service leadership to develop and maintain effective, consistent processes that improve operational performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure Parts and Service departments support the company's broader sales and customer retention strategies.
- Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities to increase parts and service revenue, improve response times, and strengthen customer support.
- Encourage proactive communication between departments to ensure customers receive coordinated and timely solutions.
- Support initiatives that expand aftermarket opportunities and strengthen long-term customer relationships.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and employees with a focus on accountability, performance, professional growth, and succession planning.
- Empower department leaders to take ownership of their areas of responsibility while maintaining clear expectations for results.
- Build and maintain a high-performing leadership team capable of supporting current operations and future company growth.
- Establish a culture of accountability in which goals, expectations, and performance standards are clearly communicated and consistently measured.
- Promote a positive and professional work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct and participate in regular leadership and departmental meetings to review performance, priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
- Proactively address performance concerns and work with appropriate leadership and Human Resources resources when necessary.
Customer Experience
- Champion a customer-first culture throughout the branch.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and ensure customer concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Work across departments to improve the overall customer experience and ensure commitments are consistently met.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen customer loyalty, increase repeat business, and develop long-term partnerships.
- Ensure employees understand their role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting Goodfellow Corporation's reputation in the marketplace.
Cross-Functional & Companywide Collaboration
- Collaborate with executive leadership and other General Managers to align branch strategies with broader company objectives.
- Build strong working relationships across Goodfellow Corporation locations and departments.
- Share best practices and participate in initiatives designed to standardize and improve processes across the organization.
- Promote communication and teamwork between Sales, Parts, Service, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and other support functions.
- Support companywide initiatives and organizational changes necessary to achieve long-term growth objectives.
Safety & Compliance
- Demonstrate visible leadership and accountability for workplace safety.
- Ensure branch operations comply with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Hold managers and employees accountable for following established safety practices and procedures.
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on employee responsibility, hazard awareness, prevention, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure operational growth and productivity goals are achieved without compromising employee safety, product quality, or customer service.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in sales, business operations, branch management, or a related leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing business performance, operational priorities, and customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of sales growth, business development, operational management, and financial performance.
- Experience using P&L statements, budgets, forecasts, sales reports, and key performance indicators to manage business results.
- Proven ability to establish goals, develop strategies, and hold teams accountable for measurable results.
- Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and developing managers and employees.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify complex business challenges, evaluate potential solutions, and implement effective action plans.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and senior leadership.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business systems used to track and evaluate operational performance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Sales, Marketing, Operations, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience in the heavy equipment, aggregate, crushing and screening, construction, mining, or related industrial equipment industry.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment dealership or distribution operations.
- Experience overseeing multiple business functions, including Sales, Parts, Service, and Operations.
- Demonstrated experience growing revenue, expanding market share, and improving business profitability.
- Experience implementing process improvements and operational performance initiatives.
