We are looking for a Construction Field Safety Coordinator who brings energy, curiosity, and a proactive approach to building a strong safety culture across active job sites. This role is highly field-focused and hands-on, with daily, in-person site inspections, real-time hazard identification, and direct collaboration with field leadership and crews to keep work safe, compliant, and efficient.
The ideal candidate is excited to bring new ideas to the table, improve existing safety processes, and engage workers in meaningful, practical ways. This position requires travel throughout the tri-state area to support multiple project locations, deliver real-time safety guidance, and help drive corrective actions from identification through resolution.
What You’ll Need for the Job
- 3–5 years of experience in construction, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, industrial safety, or a related field
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Degree or certification in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction standards, with a continuous-improvement mindset
- High energy, curiosity, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to enhance safety practices
- Excellent observational skills with the ability to recognize hazards and develop practical, real-world solutions
- Confident, professional communicator who can effectively collaborate with field crews, supervisors, and office personnel
- Comfortable using technology, including safety inspection tools, mobile applications, digital reporting platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Conduct Routine Field Inspections
- Perform structured safety inspections on active job sites, mechanical rooms, confined spaces, excavation areas, equipment setups, crane lifts, and other work environments.
- Identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and non-compliant practices, document findings thoroughly with photographs, notes, and corrective action requirements.
- Verify that fall protection, PPE, lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, and equipment safety procedures are followed consistently.
Hazard Identification & Corrective Action Tracking
- Communicate deficiencies to site supervisors and foremen, ensuring they understand the severity and required corrective steps.
- Follow up on outstanding corrective actions until they are fully resolved.
- Use digital tools and safety management software to log inspections, track trends, and generate reports.
Field Coaching & Safety Support
- Provide real-time coaching to workers on safe work practices, proper tool use, and compliance with procedures.
- Assist crews with job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and equipment inspections.
- Participate in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily huddles to reinforce expectations.
Incident Prevention, Investigation & Response
- Support incident investigations by gathering field evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting findings.
- Help develop and implement preventative measures based on trends and near-miss data.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, state, and local regulations relevant to construction, HVAC, and plumbing operations.
- Provide compliance guidance during inspections and project reviews.
Safety Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare written and digital inspection summaries, safety alerts, and trend analyses for leadership.
- Assist in maintaining safety records and preparing documentation for audits, customers, and regulatory bodies.
