Junior Accountant - TRK

Position Summary

This position is responsible for processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with little supervision while supporting multiple production and sales operations. The candidate may do similar work for any or all other companies as well. 

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Purchasing

• • Review, organize, and reconcile material tickets, scale tickets, bills of lading, vendor invoices, and supporting documentation.
  • Process purchase order requests for production, maintenance, equipment, fuel, and operational needs.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and coding before obtaining approvals.
  • Accurately enter approved invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Accounts Receivable & Billing

• • Generate and process customer invoices based on material sales, hauling services, and other revenue streams.
  • Enter customer billings and cash receipts into the accounting system.
  • Monitor customer accounts and assist with collections efforts.
  • Maintain accurate customer account records and aging schedules.

General Accounting

• • Prepare and post journal entries as required.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and assist with depreciation schedules.
  • Support inventory reconciliations for aggregate materials and related products.

Reporting & Compliance

• • Prepare reports and supporting schedules for management and operational personnel.
  • Assist with sales tax, fuel tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Support annual audits, insurance renewals, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

Operational Support

• • Assist with job costing, production cost tracking, and equipment expense allocations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and accounting process enhancements.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications 

• • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, filters, and data analysis.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in construction, mining, aggregate materials, transportation, or heavy equipment industries is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple business functions and locations.
