Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor/Intern, (A267410-8), 208, Detoxification

Completes clinical assessments and documentation as necessary, including but not limited to treatment plans, biopsychosocial assessments, concurrent reviews, discharge plans, etc. Provides high quality compassionate and ethical counseling to clients as scheduled in individual and group therapy settings.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes clinical assessments and documentation as necessary, including but not limited to treatment plans, biopsychosocial assessments, concurrent reviews, discharge plans, etc. 
• Must have experience and familiarity with the use of Electronic Health Records.
• Must have excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Understands HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Provides basic safety, infection control, quality assurance, records management, statistical information gathering, etc.
• Works with the program integrated behavioral health team to assure appropriate additional treatment, counseling, psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy.
• Coordinates and conducts follow-up on all behavioral health care treatment, service plans, evaluations outcomes, and living situations.
• Acts as a resource on psychology for the departments patients and refers as appropriate to behavioral health and substance abuse community services.
• Provides high quality, compassionate, and ethical counseling to clients as scheduled individual, group, and family therapy settings.
• Performs other related work as required.

Required Education and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in Social Sciences
• At least one (1) year of experience in counseling, health care, or preventive services

        *Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)Required Certifications or Licenses

• Valid Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor or Counselor Intern from the State of Texas. (Copy of License must be attached to the application) 
• Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
