Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Christmas Hamper Coordinator provides Christmas Hamper and Toy Shopping support to the Foothills Church & Community Ministries during the Christmas season.
Accountabilities:
Coordinates with the set-up, take-down and organization of toy distribution program.
Responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, and organization of volunteers. Receive and process donations of toys for distribution and provide assistance with packing and sorting toy donations.
Assist with recording statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
Receive and process Christmas Hamper applications.
Assist with Christmas fundraising.
Receive and process telephone calls from clients requiring assistance, make appointments and do any paperwork required. Process and records gift cards distributed to the clients.
Receives monetary donations and issues unofficial/temporary receipt in accordance with the Salvation Army guidelines.
Contacts and coordinates churches, schools, businesses, and other organizations with Toy drop-off locations around High River and Foothills area.
Perform other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a temporary part time position based on 40 hours per week.
Shifts will include days, afternoons, and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday, flexibility in scheduling is required.
The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
Ability to lift/move more than 20 lbs. (10 kg).
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Completed Secondary School.
Valid Alberta Class “5” Driver’s License required for use of Salvation Army program vehicle; an original copy of a current Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
Volunteer management skills.
Skills and Capabilities:

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through local police detachment.
May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures and associated legislation.
Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
