Position summary:
The Electrical & Automation Engineer is the single technical owner of electrical and automation/control systems across the entire site — both production equipment and site utilities
Job Specific technical/Functional/Professional Competencies:
- Own the technical integrity of site electrical distribution systems: main incomers, switchgear, transformers, standby/emergency power, UPS systems and low-voltage distribution to production and utility areas.
- Provide engineering-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical faults on both production equipment and utility systems.
- Ensure electrical safety standards (arc-flash, lockout-tagout, earthing/bonding, statutory inspection compliance) are implemented and audited across all electrical work on-site.
- Manage electrical spare parts strategy in both utilities and equipment, prioritizing critical spares for single points of failure
- Identify and lead automation improvement opportunities that reduce manual intervention, changeover time, or reactive maintenance on production equipment.
- Manage the interface with external automation/controls integrators for projects or complexity beyond in-house capability, ensuring specifications and acceptance testing meet GMP requirements.
- Provide detailed reliability analysis for all critical automation systems for production equipment and utilities. with the ability to troubleshoot multiple platform automation systems, control, and electrical systems.
Implements maintenance program improvements for the assets under his/her responsibility. He /she should make maintenance budget recommendations.
- Job requirements will involve design and implementation of ALCOA (Attributable to the person generating the data, Legible and permanent, Contemporaneous, Original record and Accurate) principles of data integrity is met in all automation system designs.
- Facilitate the identification of root causes for equipment failure by applying appropriate RFT analysis methods and tools. Identify and manage the execution of remedial actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Responsible for the creation and ownership of technical SOPs related to the Maintenance of Equipment/utilities.
- Responsible for representing maintenance to other organizations and functions including Engineering Projects, Production Operations, Procurement, new project commissioning, etc.
- Support the development of maintenance shut-down work plans.
- Develop and manage CRs (Change Requests) related to Engineering systems and projects.
- Ability to investigate equipment related deviations and enhance the related CAPA
- Provide training support to Engineering colleagues on technical SOPs
- Provide ongoing technical support to the engineering team.
- Interacts with all Engineering positions, cross function teams from production, quality, supply chain, procurement, compliance, and Internal audit teams.
Delegate for the Equipment maintenance manager in case of absence
Experience and Knowledge:
- 3-5 years’ experience in electrical and automation role in pharmaceutical industry is preferred, Experience in Food or FMCG is accepted.
- B.SC in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering is required.
- Expert in Siemens automation systems (PLC, SCADA, Drives…) with relevant certification is mandatory.
Demonstrate strong knowledge in Electrical and Automation Systems.
