About Zoom Drain | Who we are:
Zoom Drain has been in the drain and sewer business since 1995, built on a deliberately narrow premise: do one thing and do it better than anyone else. Most competition in the niche comes from independent plumbing contractors who typically lack the means, or the desire, to do drains properly, so rather than compete with them, Zoom Drain turns plumbers and local shops into referral partners. That focus covers drain repairs, cleanings, inspections, septic services, and pump replacements for both residential and commercial customers, delivered on a same-day model. 

Today, Zoom Drain operates as both a national franchise system and a set of company-owned operations, headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, PA, with roughly 70 employees across corporate and the Philadelphia metro markets. The business is private equity-backed and in an active growth phase, which means the systems, processes, and functional leadership are being built as the business scales. 

The Role | What you’ll be doing:

The VP/Head of Finance will serve as the strategic financial advisor and lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance across Zoom Drain's entities as the company scales. This hands-on role owns full-cycle accounting, financial systems, and board reporting while helping build the company's financial infrastructure. 

Essential Functions | What you'll own:

Strategy and Partnership

• Serve as the financial advisor to the leadership team on strategic planning
• Act as the primary day-to-day finance contact for our private equity sponsor
• Lead the financial workstreams on each entity (Franchise + Operations)

Accounting operations

• Own all accounting operations across three legal entities, including AR, AP, general ledger, and month-end close
• Own the AR/AP cycles with customers and vendors, including the systems and controls behind them
• Own the financial systems, including Sage and Ramp, and lead the evaluation of what comes next
• Build and lead the finance team, starting with 1-2 direct reports

Reporting and analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board reporting
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
• Build revenue and expense tracking that holds up across entities
• Analyze profitability, cost, and trend data to support operating decisions

Compliance and risk

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements 
• Manage the annual audit and external accounting relationships
• Manage the company's insurance program and coverage compliance
• Build the internal controls, policies, and delegations of authority 

 

Qualifications | What you bring: 

Required

• 7-10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
• Full-cycle accounting ownership
• Experience in a private equity-backed or sponsor-owned company, including board and lender reporting
• Experience in a franchise organization, including royalty accounting, franchisee reporting, and FDD financial statement preparation
• Multi-entity experience, including consolidation and intercompany accounting
• Experience building or materially improving financial reporting, controls, and processes 
• Strong command of financial systems and comfort leading an ERP implementation or migration
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field 

Preferred

• Background in field services, construction, home services, or another trades-based business
• Experience with job costing, labor utilization, and fleet or equipment accounting

Who does well here

• You're comfortable in the details. This is a role where the senior-most finance person still reconciles accounts when it matters.
• You've worked without the infrastructure, meaning no FP&A team to build the model, no controller to run the close
• You can translate financial data for operators who don't speak finance
