Shipping/Receiving Clerk

GENERAL DUTIES

• Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests; invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
• Record shipment data, such as weigh, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
• Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
• Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
• Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Deliver or route materials to departments using cart, pallet jack, dolly, and or forklift.
• Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
• Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
• Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Fed-Ex or experience.
• 1-2 years of related experience in a shipping and receiving department.
• Working knowledge of computer programs for entering data.
• Basic math and recording abilities.
• Great communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Forklift experience.
• MUST PASS a Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Background/Credit check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to stand, walk and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
• Vision abilities requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth
• Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.
• May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Moderately loud noise levels in plant environment.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
