Amentum is seeking an Air Cargo / Freight Supervisor to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Air Cargo / Freight Supervisor oversees daily air cargo and freight operations in accordance with U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, and aviation logistics standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise cargo handling activities, coordinate aircraft loading and unloading operations, and ensure all freight movements comply with safety, security, and documentation requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to air cargo personnel, assign daily tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure efficient use of manpower and equipment.
- Review cargo manifests, verify shipping documentation, and ensure proper handling of priority, hazardous, oversized, or classified cargo in accordance with established procedures.
- Enforce safety and operational standards, conduct on‑the‑job training, support inspections and audits, and coordinate with aircrew, logistics teams, and transportation partners.
- Maintain operational readiness, resolve issues impacting cargo flow, and support mission‑critical airlift operations in a remote, high‑tempo environment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in air cargo, freight operations, logistics, or transportation support
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of air cargo procedures, freight documentation, and aviation safety standards
- Experience leading or supervising personnel in an operational environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, equipment operation, and working in outdoor conditions
- Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally
- Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date
- Ability to obtain country‑specific visa(s) in accordance with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in military, DoD, or commercial air cargo operations
- Experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi‑national workforce
- Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and airlift regulations
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, time management and customer service skills.
- Valid country driver’s license.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
