Description
Cashiering:
Serve as the University Cashier, processing payments and maintaining accurate cash handling procedures.
Receive, post, and reconcile payments for student, fiscal, gift, e-market, and Outfitters accounts, ensuring transactions are applied to the appropriate accounts.
Prepare daily deposits and reconcile system reports, student batches, and Advancement gift batches to ensure all funds are accurately accounted for.
Maintain and reconcile petty cash, activity cash boxes, and cash drawers; request replenishment funds as needed.
Maintain required deposit documentation by scanning, organizing, and uploading records to designated Google Drive folders.
Process and distribute student refund checks and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
Monitor student account to ensure the accuracy of student billing, sponsor accounts, tax reporting, and other internal and external financial reporting.
Review student accounts and place appropriate financial notes and holds in accordance with university policies and procedures.
Research and resolve credit card transaction issues, including web payment discrepancies, declined or disputed transactions, and chargebacks.
Establish, maintain, and reconcile scholarship sponsor accounts; apply scholarship funds accurately to student accounts and monitor outstanding receivables.
Follow up monthly with scholarship sponsors to ensure timely collection and resolution of outstanding balances.
Customer Service & Communication:
Communicate with students, families and internal stakeholders via phone, email and mail to resolve account inquiries.
Maintain a high level of customer service by handling inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
Teamwork & Special Projects:
Provide organizational support to the Business Office.
Regular, predictable attendance on campus

Must possess excellent customer service skills, and an ability to serve and support all customers of the University (both internal and external)
Ability to work with staff, faculty, students, and public
Computer literacy and ability to learn and adapt to university changes, policy updates and software programs
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and specifically database management software preferred
Education and Experience:
High School diploma required
Some accounting experience preferred
Higher education experience preferred
Previous experience in a customer facing/cashier-related position required
Computer literacy and ability to learn and adapt to university software programs
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and the ability to utilize multiple systems required
Experience with Workday preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
