Description

Build the Bid. Know the Scope. Help Us Win the Work.
Premier Fence, LLC is looking for a detail-driven Commercial Fence Estimator who enjoys turning plans, specifications, and project requirements into accurate, competitive proposals.

If you know construction estimating and want to develop specialized expertise in commercial fencing, gates, guardrail, and related site work, we want to hear from you. Direct fence estimating experience is a plus—but it isn't the only way to succeed here. We are willing to train a strong construction professional who has the technical aptitude, curiosity, and drive to learn our industry.

About Premier Fence:
Premier Fence, LLC is a leader in high-quality fencing, fabrication, and installation serving commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential clients throughout the region.

With our own state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, we provide a broad range of products and solutions, including chain link, ornamental aluminum and iron fence, PVC, cedar, gates, specialty fencing, and guardrail systems.

As a certified American Fence Association (AFA) Contractor with an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, we have built our reputation on quality workmanship, dependable service, and the ability to successfully deliver complex projects.

The Opportunity:
As a Commercial Fence Estimator, you will be an important part of the team responsible for identifying opportunities, understanding project requirements, developing accurate estimates, and preparing competitive proposals.

You will review construction drawings and specifications, complete quantity takeoffs, determine material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs, and develop complete scopes of work.

This isn't just a "count what's on the plans" estimating position. We are looking for someone who will understand the project, identify what may be missing, ask the right questions, recognize risk, and make sure our proposal accurately reflects the work required.

Once a project is awarded, you'll help ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations by communicating the scope, assumptions, pricing considerations, and project requirements to our Project Management, Fabrication, Purchasing, and Installation teams.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare accurate estimates and proposals for commercial, industrial, municipal, and other fence and guardrail projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, contracts, addenda, and other project information to determine the complete scope of work.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Calculate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, freight, and other project costs.
  • Apply appropriate production rates, unit pricing, labor assumptions, and installation requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations when necessary.
  • Identify project-specific requirements, potential scope gaps, unusual conditions, and estimating risks before bid submission.
  • Prepare clear proposal scopes, qualifications, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications.
  • Review addenda and revisions and incorporate changes into estimates before bid deadlines.
  • Prepare internal budgets and GMPs when applicable.
  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings when necessary to better understand project conditions and requirements.
  • Communicate with general contractors, owners, engineers, vendors, and internal teams to clarify scope and resolve questions.
  • Prepare and submit RFIs or scope questions when bid documents require clarification.
  • Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain estimating records, pricing information, bid documentation, and opportunity information within company systems.
  • Assist with tracking bid results and identifying trends that can improve future estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Conduct thorough project turnover/handoff meetings with Project Management and Operations following award.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Management, Fabrication, Purchasing, and Field Operations to ensure the estimated scope is clearly understood and executable.

What We're Looking For:
Construction Estimating Experience:
Experience estimating commercial construction, civil/site work, fencing, guardrail, gates, structural or miscellaneous metals, or related construction scopes is preferred.

Fence Experience Is a Plus—Not a Requirement:
Previous experience estimating fencing, gates, or guardrail projects is highly desirable, but we are willing to train the right construction professional who demonstrates strong estimating fundamentals and a genuine interest in learning our industry.

Blueprint & Takeoff Skills:
You should be comfortable reading construction plans and performing quantity takeoffs—or have the technical aptitude and construction knowledge necessary to quickly develop these skills.

Strong Analytical Ability:
Estimating requires more than entering numbers into a spreadsheet. You should be able to evaluate information, identify inconsistencies, recognize missing scope, ask good questions, and understand how project conditions affect cost.

Construction Documentation Knowledge:
Understanding of drawings, specifications, addenda, bid packages, RFIs, contracts, and other construction documents is strongly preferred.

Technology Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, is required. Experience with Bluebeam Revu, CRM/pipeline management systems, and Infor CloudSuite is highly desirable.

Organization & Time Management:
You must be able to manage multiple bids, shifting priorities, and firm submission deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.

Communication & Teamwork:
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will interact with customers, general contractors, suppliers, project managers, fabrication personnel, and field operations.

You'll Be Successful Here If You...
  • Notice details other people miss.
  • Enjoy figuring out how a project will actually be built.
  • Ask questions rather than make costly assumptions.
  • Can balance accuracy, competitiveness, and deadlines.
  • Take ownership of your estimates from initial review through final submission.
  • Communicate clearly when you see scope gaps, risks, or opportunities.
  • Are comfortable working independently but understand that successful estimating requires teamwork.
  • Want to become a subject-matter expert in a specialized segment of the construction industry.
  • Thrive in a growing company where priorities can move quickly and your work directly impacts results.

Why Premier Fence?
At Premier Fence, estimating is where many of our projects begin. Your work directly influences the projects we pursue, the work we win, and how successfully those projects are executed.

You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and develop specialized knowledge in commercial fencing, security fencing, gates, guardrail, fabrication, and installation while working closely with experienced construction and operations professionals.

We are looking for someone who doesn't simply want to prepare estimates—we want someone who wants to understand the work, improve the process, and help Premier Fence win the right projects.

Compensation:
Pay: Commensurate with experience.

Compensation will be based on relevant construction estimating experience, technical knowledge, fence/guardrail industry experience, and overall qualifications.

Ready to build your estimating career with Premier Fence?
If you're an experienced estimator—or a construction professional with strong technical skills who is ready to learn a specialized and growing industry—we encourage you to apply.

Premier Fence, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
