C-P Flexible Packaging is a successful and fast-growing essential manufacturing company that uses an impressive array of digital pre-press and wide-web flexographic printing capabilities and extrusion and adhesive laminators to produce creative flexible packaging solutions for our customers. With a primary focus on serving the food industry, C-P specializes in roll stock, pouches, re-sealable packaging and shrink sleeves. Our headquarters and main manufacturing facility is located York, PA, with additional operations in Bristol, PA, Buffalo, NY, Lakeville, MN, and Aurora, Ontario.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and exceptionally organized Hands-On Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in Buffalo, NY. This is a full-time, hands-on supervisory role. The teammate will spend significant time on the production floor working alongside your team, directly diagnosing faults, and driving asset reliability for our high-speed, wide-web flexographic printing presses, converting machinery, and our Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO).

The ideal candidate must possess master-level mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills—specifically with automated control systems (Siemens & Allen-Bradley PLCs, Rexroth & Emerson Servo Drives). Prior experience in a Flexible Packaging Manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. We require a leader who balances a strong organizational mindset with the advanced technical ability to turn a wrench, troubleshoot complex system failures in real time, and closely collaborate with and assist the Plant Engineer in maintaining flawless record-keeping for seamless oversight by third-party auditors, state agencies, and federal agencies.

Essential Job Functions & Supervisory, Managerial and Leadership Responsibilities:

Regulatory Support & Engineering Alignment:

  • Directly assist the Plant Engineer in compiling, tracking, and maintaining comprehensive facility records required for rigorous inspections and audits.
  • Ensure constant readiness for agency oversight, organizing documentation to satisfy federal and state regulators (OSHA, EPA, NYSDOL, NYSDEC) as well as commercial inspectors.
  • Manage OSHA & NYSDOL workplace safety compliance tracking, archiving completed Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Hot Work permits, Confined Space entry logs, arc flash safety records, and employee safety training documentation.
  • Oversee EPA & NYSDEC environmental compliance logging, systematically recording parameter data for the RTO to ensure constant VOC destruction efficiency and air permit compliance.
  • Coordinate audit-ready maintenance files, ensuring all vendor service sheets, contractor safety certifications, and hazardous waste disposal manifests are up-to-date and organized.

Direct Hands-On Troubleshooting & Leadership:

  • Lead by example on the plant floor, spending a majority of the shift actively executing repairs, tracking down elusive faults, and providing immediate technical backup to technicians.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of escalation for complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures.
  • Supervise, schedule, and delegate tasks to a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring labor resources are optimized across continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Cultivate a culture of rapid, precise diagnostics to systematically reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and safely get high-volume machinery back online.

World-Class PM Program & GFSI Compliance:

  • Champion a highly structured PM culture, utilizing strong organizational skills to shift the facility from a reactive mindset to a rigorously planned, predictive maintenance model.
  • Organize and optimize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to accurately track asset history, analyze breakdown root causes, and schedule regular machine overhauls.
  • Maintain continuous audit readiness for all facility maintenance practices in alignment with GFSI benchmarks (e.g., SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000 packaging standards).
  • Strictly enforce food safety protocols within the maintenance department, including the correct usage and logging of food-grade lubricants, tool control accountability, and proper clean-up procedures.

Equipment & Technical Execution:

  • Diagnose industrial control systems, including connecting to processors, going online to trace or modify Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC logic, and tuning/replacing Rexroth and Emerson servo drive systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fluid power systems, diagnosing faults in complex high-pressure hydraulic pumps, proportional valves, cylinders, and pneumatic tension control circuits.
  • Execute precision mechanical repairs, including the alignment of high-speed gears, chill rollers, bearings, and web-handling assemblies common to printing and converting.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of the RTO and plant utilities (industrial air compressors, chillers, HVAC units, electrical distribution).

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Experience & Competencies:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance supervisory or lead technician experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven "tool-in-hand" troubleshooting mastery across complex, automated machinery. Candidates must demonstrate they are active field technicians.
  • Demonstrate excellence in organization and record-keeping, with a proven history of assisting management/engineering with audit-heavy administrative tracking (OSHA, EPA, NYSDEC, NYSDOL, or GFSI logs).
  • Flexible Packaging Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Deep familiarity with web handling, tension controls, and printing environments is highly advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience working under GFSI food-safety compliance frameworks within a manufacturing setting.

Technical Troubleshooting Profile:

  • Automation & Controls: Deep proficiency with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, as well as Bosch Rexroth and Emerson (Control Techniques) servo drives/VFDs. Ability to connect to processors, go online, trace logic, and use diagnostics to solve machine issues.
  • Environmental Systems: Strong working knowledge of Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) systems, burners, gas trains, and airflow controls.
  • Mechanical & Fluid Power: Deep understanding of mechanical drive systems, web tension controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
