Job Description:
Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
Position Description:
Performs detailed systems and data analysis across mainframe, distributed, and cloud-based applications to support equity compensation technology solutions. Translates complex business challenges into system and functional requirements, including initiatives that span multiple systems, integration layers, and data domains. Evaluates existing mainframe and distributed applications to assess their functionality, dependability, reliability, maintainability, and scalability, and contributes to the design and enhancement of platforms through detailed system analysis, data evaluation, and solution documentation. Conducts comprehensive impact and feasibility analysis for medium to large-scale initiatives, assessing cross- system dependencies, data flows, and technical constraints. Produces requirements, specifications, and solution artifacts that inform design decisions, support reusable solution patterns, and align with long-term technology direction. Provides analysis leadership on complex systems analysis projects, often across subsystems and companies, in a matrix organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads enterprise-level system analysis efforts.
Defines and implements strategic system solutions.
Advises senior leadership on technical direction.
Conducts independent and complex analysis across multiple initiatives.
Develops innovative solutions to support evolving business needs.
Identifies, defines, and clarifies complex business and system requirements, including initiatives spanning multiple systems, integration layers, and data domains.
Defines and applies advanced analysis approaches for medium to large-scale initiatives, incorporating system decomposition, dependency modeling, and data impact assessment to translate ambiguous problem statements into technically actionable requirements.
Evaluates existing system designs and architectural alternatives to recommend changes or new solutions aligned with requirements.
Produces high-quality solution documentation, including objectives, use cases, requirements, system interaction models, interface specifications, and current state.
Performs advanced data analysis, including querying, profiling, lineage evaluation, and cross- system impact analysis, to inform design decisions and assess data quality and integrity.
Applies requirements traceability practices across complex or multi-phase initiatives to ensure alignment between business objectives, system behavior, and delivered outcomes.
Participates in Agile planning and delivery activities, contributing analysis strategy, dependency awareness, and solution cohesion across workstreams.
Engages with Product Owners to support project definition, cross-team coordination, and validation of requirements and acceptance criteria.
Mentors junior product analysts and developers on systems analysis techniques and business workflows.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing systems and data analysis using mainframe technologies -- COBOL, IBM DB2, JCL, VSAM, and CICS.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing systems and data analysis using mainframe technologies -- COBOL, IBM DB2, JCL, VSAM, and CICS.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing, executing, debugging, and analyzing application logic written in COBOL, and JCL, with usage of Time-Sharing Option (TSO) and Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), to interact with mainframe environments and data stored in IBM DB2 and VSAM, and identify business rules, data flows, application dependencies, and current state behavior.
DE analyzing data and ensuring data integrity by writing and executing complex SQL queries on IBM DB2, tracing data usage across batch and online programs; transitioning data access logic from VSAM files to IBM DB2 relational tables using COBOL with Embedded SQL; and validating data integrity and performance using SQL and File Aid across batch processing workloads.
DE supporting CICS-based online processing by analyzing transaction logic, program interactions, and data dependencies to translate business needs into clear system requirements and acceptance criteria.
DE gathering and translating business requirements by creating process flows, system context diagrams, and data flow models, using Microsoft Visio, to enable clear communication of functional needs and accurate system design.
