Here's what you can expect as a Special Project Manager at DaVita: 

The Manager, Special Projects, is responsible for leading, managing, and executing assigned strategic and operational initiatives with high ownership and accountability. The role focuses on identifying operational and business improvement opportunities, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, designing business models and workflows, and driving cross-functional implementation across organizational lanes. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

·         Initiative & Project Leadership: 

o    Own and manage end-to-end lifecycle for strategic, operational, and process improvement projects. 

o    Establish project objectives, milestones, detailed work plans, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure timely execution. 

o    Track and report project KPIs, identify operational bottlenecks, and implement mitigation plans. 

o    Drive PR, Referral Volume, Transfers.  Facilitate admit readiness via capacity planning, clinical amenities, DGS & ROPS relationships. Identify opportunities and strategies for sustainable impact (ex.FA Accountability, Schedule Hub, DTM, Centralized RN, Discharge Packet, Patient Transition Survey, Hep B Pending, Two Track, etc). Assist with acquisitions and de novos. 

o    Manage upstream education program driving %NSE and maintaining consistent educator team 

o    Oversight of pilots, long term and short term whether clinic, Regional or Divisional.  Ex. Lung Ultrasonography, CritLine, PerfectServe, ToT, 

·         Process Design & Policy Development: 

o    Develop, document, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), program policies, and process workflows. 

o    Partner closely with corporate teams, Legal, and Compliance to ensure adherence to standard policies and regulatory guidelines. 

·         Business Analytics & Insight Synthesis: 

o    Perform data analysis and root-cause analyses on key operational metrics and performance trends. 

o    Translate complex findings into actionable business insights, dashboards, and structured recommendations. 

·         Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Alignment: 

o    Act as a central partner connecting diverse teams (e.g., Operations, Strategy, IT, People Services, and Clinical Leadership) . 

o    Prepare and present high-impact summaries, executive updates, and presentations for senior leadership. 

o    Upstream engagement with Providers, DP/CM teams. ED Diversion/DoDD/ Dialysis in the ED programs. Partner with Directors, ROPS/DTM/DGS to drive referral volume. Elevate Day 0 -Day 1 experience.   

o    Resource to field across multiple departments based on exposure to multiple Village teammates and a variety of projects.  Thought partner to FAs to promote Living the DaVita Way. 

o    Support integration of the IKC team within the DKC workflow. 

o    Thought partner with DVP/Director team on new opportunities to elevate patient care and clinical outcomes, both operationally and clinically. Ex New Beginnings, EPIC/Falcon integration, Alternative languages recorded for Patient Education Materials, TM Growth Programs 

·         Team Leadership & Development (as applicable): 

o    Provide mentorship, day-to-day work guidance, and project leadership to assigned analysts and project contributors. 

o    Talent calibration, lead roles, new roles, TM growth and development, Core Team accountability, Growth Strategy. 

o    Facilitate roundtable discussions among all Departments to elicit clinic teammates and leadership feedback on top-of-mind topics.   Drive team focus and accountability by facilitating SSC discussions. 

Minimum Qualifications 

·         Education: Associates degree preferred, unless required by state or local laws; bachelor's degree in related area strongly preferred 

·         Experience:  

o    3–5+ years of relevant experience in project management, consulting, strategy, or operational leadership. 

o    Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. 

·         Other qualifications and combinations of skills may be considered at discretion of ROD and/or Divisional Vice President 

·         Collaboration is a much to be successful in this role. You will be working with clinical and financial teams daily to produce results that align to business needs. 

·         Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. 

·         Required Skills:  

o    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 

o    Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize concurrent workstreams, and manage tight deadlines. 

o    Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and executive presentation capabilities. 

·         Travel Requirements: Up to 25–40% depending on assignment and group need
