JOB SUMMARY


The Graphic Designer (Part-Time) is responsible for designing impactful, mission-driven visual communications that strengthen the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) brand and support membership growth, volunteer engagement, fundraising, product programs, community outreach, and organizational initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Development & Marketing, this position collaborates with departments across the organization to create compelling print and digital materials that promote the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and advance Council priorities.


The Graphic Designer serves as the Council's primary graphic design resource and develops creative assets that communicate key messages, engage target audiences, and maintain a consistent visual identity across all communication channels. This position ensures all creative materials align with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) brand standards, Council messaging, and accessibility best practices while supporting a wide range of programs, campaigns, events, and marketing initiatives.

The Graphic Designer exercises judgment within the scope of assigned responsibilities and collaborates with the Vice President of Development & Marketing on matters impacting brand management, visual communications, marketing initiatives, and organizational visibility. This part-time position performs specialized graphic design, creative development, and visual communication functions requiring creativity, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective collaboration.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Graphic Design & Creative Development

  1. Serves as the Council's primary graphic designer for print and digital communications.
  2. Designs marketing and communication materials that support membership recruitment, volunteer engagement, fundraising, product programs, camps, special events, retail operations, and community partnerships.
  3. Develops creative assets including brochures, flyers, postcards, posters, banners, annual reports, presentations, social media graphics, digital advertisements, email graphics, signage, patches, apparel, and promotional materials.
  4. Creates visually compelling designs that communicate the Girl Scout mission and support Council goals and strategic priorities.
  5. Prepares production-ready files for print and digital distribution.
  6. Manages multiple design projects simultaneously while ensuring quality, consistency, and timely completion.


Brand Management & Creative Excellence

  1. Ensures all creative materials comply with GSUSA brand standards, Council messaging, and visual identity guidelines.
  2. Maintains a consistent and cohesive visual identity across all communication platforms and materials.
  3. Collaborates with Marketing and Communications staff to develop integrated campaigns that are engaging, effective, and visually consistent.
  4. Ensures designs are accessible, inclusive, and appropriate for diverse audiences.
  5. Recommends creative solutions and innovative design approaches that strengthen brand recognition and audience engagement.
  6. Maintains digital asset libraries, templates, and graphic resources to support organizational efficiency and brand consistency.


Marketing & Communications Support

  1. Collaborates with departments to identify communication needs, understand project objectives, and develop creative solutions that support organizational goals.
  2. Designs promotional materials supporting membership recruitment, volunteer recruitment, fundraising campaigns, community events, product programs, camps, and Council initiatives.
  3. Supports digital communications efforts through the creation of graphics optimized for websites, social media platforms, email marketing, and other online channels.
  4. Assists with photography selection, image editing, and graphic optimization for print and digital applications.
  5. Coordinates project timelines, revisions, approvals, and deliverables with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed.
  6. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners.
  7. Maintains regular and reliable attendance during agreed-upon work hours and as otherwise necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  8. Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Development & Marketing.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS -- Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  1. Associate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience may be considered.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in graphic design, visual communications, marketing, or a related field.
  3. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  4. Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  5. Membership in Girl Scout organization.
  6. Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
  7. Demonstrated experience creating print and digital marketing materials for a variety of audiences and communication channels.
  8. Experience designing content for social media platforms, websites, email marketing campaigns, and digital advertising.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business technologies; experience with Canva preferred.
  10. Strong knowledge of graphic design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, branding, visual hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
  11. Experience preparing files for commercial printing, digital publishing, and online distribution.
  12. Experience with photography, photo selection, photo editing, and image optimization for print and digital communications.
  13. Experience with video editing, motion graphics, animation, or multimedia content creation preferred.
  14. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and revisions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
  15. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
  16. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality creative work.
  17. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, vendors, and stakeholders across multiple departments.

  24. Have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
  25. Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
