Job Description
About the Role
We're bringing face to face savings, mortgages and financial advice back to Greater Manchester and are looking for community-minded people with strong local connections, particularly in Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale, to join us in King Street.
Following the merger of Newcastle Building Society and Manchester Building Society in 2023, we were delighted to return to Manchester's high street. As we continue to expand our branch network across Greater Manchester, we're looking for Customer Advisers to help make a real difference in the communities we serve.
As a Customer Adviser, you'll be the face of Manchester Building Society within both our branches and the local communities. This is a people-focused role where building relationships is at the heart of everything you do.
While you'll support customers in branch with savings accounts, transactions, appointments and financial conversations, a key part of the role is getting out into the community. You'll represent the Society at local events, schools, community groups and shopping centres, helping to raise awareness of our services and build lasting connections with local people.
No two days are the same. One day you could be welcoming customers into branch and helping them achieve their financial goals; the next, you could be delivering a financial education session to a community group, supporting vulnerable customers, or networking with local organisations.
Working closely with your colleagues, you'll deliver exceptional customer service, create positive customer experiences, and help bring face-to-face financial services back to local high streets.
Our branches are typically open Monday to Saturday between 7.30am – 6.30pm, and we're happy to discuss both full-time and part-time opportunities.
About You
Being great with people and building strong relationships comes naturally to you. You'll be confident communicating with a wide range of customers and comfortable engaging with people in both branch and community settings.
You'll bring a proactive, resilient and growth-focused mindset, along with excellent listening skills and the ability to really understand and empathise with others. Building trust and helping customers achieve positive outcomes is something you genuinely enjoy.
A natural team player, you'll work closely with your colleagues to deliver an outstanding customer experience while supporting the wider goals of the Society.
We understand that you may not have worked in financial services before, and that's absolutely fine. We're looking for people whose personality, enthusiasm and values align with our own. Experience of delivering excellent customer service and achieving sales outcomes will provide a strong foundation, and we'll support you to build your knowledge and confidence in the role.
In return, you'll benefit from a tailored 12-week training programme, ongoing development conversations, and opportunities to grow and progress your career with us.
